(CNN) — The "architect" of George W. Bush's successful presidential campaigns has questions about Sarah Palin's resignation as governor.
"It's a risky strategy," Republican campaign mastermind Karl Rove told "Fox News Sunday."
Palin's unexpected announcement Friday that she will step down with 18 months left in her first term has left many in her party "a little perplexed," said Rove, whom Bush dubbed "The Architect" for managing his two victorious campaigns in 2000 and 2004.

Saw this. I disagree w/ Rove. Sometimes he’s too much the political machine operator.
Agree 100%. Palin is a threat not only to the Rats but to the “loyal opposition” RINOs, Bushbots, Mittbots, etc. I very much like Rove as a political analyst, but he is as tied into the Beltway mentality as any other traditional politico. His star began to fade after the 2004 reelection, when Bush (rightfully) claimed his “political capital” and then (with Rove’s guidance) squandered it on horrifically expensive entitlement programs, led a quixotic effort to reform SS, had blinders on the stalled Iraq strategy (until McCain rightly called him out on it) and knuckled under to the Soros-led banking “crisis” that literally put Obama into office. So, I’m not surprised to see Rove respond with a cocked head (like my dog does when she doesn’t understand something).
We are in historically unconventional times. Conventional strategies and conventional politicos are not going to be able to derail the Obama express train to hell that he has set our nation’s course on.
I suspect that “clear strategy” means one which Mr. Rove agrees with.
He’s good. But he’s also a quintessential Republican-first. She, to my eyes, is a conservative-first.
Rove has no business discussing Palin’s ‘strategy’ because her strategy has not yet been announced. All she did was say that she was stepping down. This news is just 48 hours old. Over time, her strategy for this move will become clear, and the pundits can then dissect it. Until then, we’re seeing hearing nothing more than people talking for the sake of talking.
Rove is right about one thing. The media will continue to follow her every move.
Rove’s strategy with Bush was the same advice Jonah Goldberg offered to Palin: Shut up. Sit down. Let the press beat you up.

My guess she is 3 or 4 moves ahead and if she was playing Rove he would get stomped.

Rove, your 8 years of advising President Bush demonstrated the clearest “lack of strategy” we’ve seen in decades. You were horsecrap, period. So shut the hell up and get out of the way. Just maybe, a real American with common sense is about to step up and rally a whole bunch of real Americans to take back the country. You had your chance and you crapped all over yourself. Idiot. Wuss. Incompetent. Big deal, you beat Al Gore in an election by 700 votes, what an accomplishment.
My thoughts too. What was her view from Kosovo? That trip helped make her decision. She saw the Alaska National Guard putting their lives on hold to help the cause of freedom there. Then she looks at Washington DC and the things that are going on. This is a mission bigger than being governor of Alaska.

her move does appear to lack a clear strategy, but I think being non-transparent is her total strategy at this point. It is not clear to the pundits what she is doing, therefore she gets more months of pontificating pundits..
time will tell if it will work. One thing is certain, the game at this point with a celebrity for a President, is that in a year, after her book is finished, she needs to be in the news front and center, speaking, doing speeches, and hopefully not drawing ridicule. Ridicule will destroy her chances.

I believe she can now take legal action against personal attacks as a civilian that were denied her as a Governor.
Let's see, he helped guide his candidate to victory over the VP of an incredibly popular President. And, by the second year of his President's first term, he handed his boss a commanding lead in the House and a majority in the Senate, not to mention a majority of state Governorships as well. Then, in the midst of an increasingly unpopular war, he again led his candidate to reelection, the first for a Republican President in 20 years.
Yeah, that Rove's a real moron. Sadly, the GOP could use a whole lot more morons like him right now.
Karl Rove can't be held responsible for not keeping the GOP from destroying themselves. But, he did his job and he knows one thing very well, how to get people elected to state and national office. Anybody thinking about national office would be wise to head his advice.
