Hard to convince folks the stories about Valdez are true. I worked for a big telcom outfit and we paid a fellow to big out the 9 meter dish after every snowstorm.
I wish I had been able to keep a photo showing another dish on coastal Alaska buried all the up to the top - a 25 ft drift.
Skeeters are deadly, no doubt.
Yah, my late hubby plowed snow in the winter and dirt in the summer. Any storm that didn't leave two or three feet was called a "flurry." Shoveling off the room of the trailer was THE un-fun job, because about halfway through, it never failed to rain. But it can snow hard enough there to completely smother a furnace stack between cycles. But, like we used to say, "If you like snow, you'll LOVE Valdez!"
