Krauthammer: Palin isn’t a serious candidate for president
Hot Air ^ | July 01, 2009 | ALLAHPUNDIT

Oh yes, he went there. We’ve been having a running debate on Twitter this afternoon about Sarahcuda and my contention that criticism of her is verboten among righty blog readers, HA’s included. This thread will be an interesting test case. Most of the heat Kraut takes will be for his contention that “You cannot sustain a campaign of platitudes and clichés over a year and a half if you’re running for the presidency.” Didn’t Captain Hopenchange do exactly that? Well, yes and no. Granted, the most memorable line he uttered in 18 months on the trail was “Yes we can,” but he’s done countless policy interviews, debated Hillary 20 times and McCain three, and held numerous press conferences. The TOTUS jokes are fun but The One’s perfectly capable of straying off script when need be. Is Palin? She seems at ease when discussing energy or life issues but the jury’s still out on most everything else, which is why Kraut feels comfortable asserting that she hasn’t (yet) brushed up on national policy the way we all thought she would.

“You cannot sustain a campaign of platitudes and clichés over a year and a half if you’re running for the presidency.”

The current occupant of the White House would beg to differ about this.

My god Bunny. Why do you say that ?

She is the only horse we have. All that is left in the bullpen is a bunch of washed up old geezers.

I feel really sorry for people like Charles.

Hey Charles, you egghead republicans are dead meat.

Get off your high horse and think about saving America.

The problem is not with conservatives across America, the problem is with DC beltway elitists that have not gotten off their butts to connect with REAL America. Charles get off your butt, I will even offer my disabled services to get you out to the heartbeat of America.

Contact me here at FR and we will help you rediscover the unique American experience.

Problem is Charles, we plan to fight back, and none of us give a crap about how smart you think you are.

But I think of Dubya, who ran as a Washington outsider

You don't suppose his moronic opponents had any effect on the outcome?

I wish I could talk to these so-called experts who love bashing Sarah every second of everyday, I would ask one simple question, “If she is not a serious contender, how come you keep on talking about her?” Maybe I have been in a coma for the last EIGHT months, but didn’t the presidential election happen a long time ago, didn’t Obama win(Unfortunately) so how come they keep on talking about Sarah. She has never even mentioned that she even wants to run for President in 2012, 2016, or beyond that, so why do they keep on bashing her every chance they get, quite simple, it IS because she is a serious contender, they just don’t want to admit it.
Does Sarah need to improve on some things, sure, she is very knowledgeable as far as energy and economics are concerned, but needs more foreign policy experience, which she is getting. She went to Kosovo and other areas to visit the troops, I think that was wonderful. I look at it this way, look what Obama has done since January 20th, we have almost 10 percent unemployment, we are what, 3 trillion bucks in debt, and we have missiles aimed at Hawaii and Alaska, can anyone say that President Sarah Palin would not have done a better job if she were running the country right now, of course she would, my dog would be a better President then Obama. Obama has set the standards so low I might consider running in 2012.
It is obvious why libs don’t want Sarah in the White House, because if she were to win and become our first female President, they can’t walk around being victims anymore, women will finally be equal to men, because look, we have a woman in the White House, they don’t want to be equal, they want to still be victims, and having a Christian Conservative woman in the White House would be a lib’s and RINO’S worst nightmare. The fear Sarah brings out in them is the same Reagan brought out and he was an AWESOME President. If they fear Sarah as much as they hate and feared Reagan then Sarah is just the woman for the job

Your post 21 is correct. Palin is a great talent, but an unfinished product.

And I have a new word for people who deny this fact.

PALINBOTS

The Republicans could put Daffy Duck on the ticket, and still win in a landslide.

Naw, we ran him last time.

Krauthammer doesn’t like Palin because she is in the way of him carving up embryos (you know, the little people).

I read your post #51, and you sound like most of the defeatist, elitist, finger-in-the-wind Republicans running away from a fight because the media doesn't like you.

I'm looking for a conservative leader, not someone who is palatable to the media that hates the GOP.

Maybe you are looking for someone else?

Oh, and thanks for the intelligent response.

Finding someone of your debating ability is so hard to find.

RINO media pundits like Craphammer aren’t anyone who’d I’d seek advice for who’s worthy and who isn’t.

Exactly right. I think that Krauthammer is an intelligent man and is always interesting but I have come to question his judgement after his ringing praise for Odumbo. I truly do not know how any intelligent person can be surprised by anything the The One has done. I must question the judgement of anyone who thought that Odumbo would be great and is them surprised. As for Sarah, I love her and gladly support her. But for now she needs to concentrate on being the best governor she can and in time the rest will come. She is not fully polished and needs experience. However, in todays vicious and caustic climate she may never be able to get past the so-called intellectual party elites and the media. I wonder how many of our Founding Fathers would be run out of politics today by the so-called smart class?

Sarah will be ready for 2012 and will blow everyone away.

Mitt Romney was an abject failure in the last election but he and many of the Republican elites are unwilling to admit it. He won nothing. Nothing.

Sarah brought the base out and galvanized them into action.

She is in the race and will win in 2012.

Sarah does not need to become a "policy wonk." Reagan wasn't a policy wonk, he just understood conservative principles and believed in them. That is all I want to see from Sarah. Policy wonks are a dime a dozen and I would not vote for one of them to become president.

Well said!

Get the heck out of Los Angeles for one thing. then maybe you would have a better perspective. I wish LA and NYC would sink into the ocean.

Lets you and I go fishing where the Electoral College votes matter the most. Lake Erie, Northern Ohio. Ever catch a walleye ? they taste good...

If you can't debate your position on the issue, why even post?

Do you expect people to listen to you?

Exactly, and he is right. Kraut was giving her the nudge she needs. Don't get me wrong, not a huge Palin fan, but the more the press victimized her, the more I felt drawn to her. But again, Kraut is right on, we cannot field a candidate that cannot speak foreign policy. That is the Republican bread and butter. She can do it, as the entire panel agreed, but it will require dedication.
