UNITED NATIONS The United Nations marshaled an unusually broad effort on Tuesday to condemn the military seizure of power in Honduras, turning over the podium of the General Assembly to its ousted president and quickly passing a resolution sponsored by countries often at loggerheads, including the United States and Venezuela. The deposed president, Manuel Zelaya, said the brutal coup, including what he called a threat by soldiers to shoot him dead if he did not stop talking on his cell phone, was a blow against democracy. He called it an act of aggression attacking the democratic will of the people. Mr. Zelaya, greeted by sustained applause when he entered the chamber and sat in the Honduran seat on the assembly floor, said the resolution supporting him expresses the indignation of the people of Honduras and of people worldwide. The one-page resolution, passed by acclamation in the 192-member body, condemned the removal of the president as a coup and demanded the immediate and unconditional restoration of Mr. Zelaya as president.solution other than Mr. Zelaya returning to power. Mr. Zelaya was supposed to meet with Thomas Shannon, an assistant Secretary of State, on Tuesday or Wednesday on the sidelines of an Organization of American States meeting to hash out a response to the crisis in Honduras. White House officials said that there were no plans as of Tuesday afternoon for Mr. Zelaya to meet with Mr. Obama, but that could change, one administration official said.

You could be right. I read a while ago that they are trying to get interpol to arrest him./
Please. They weren't even so BRUTAL as to take the phone away from him?
Damn, where's Baghdad Bonior when we need him?
I had the misfortune of having that piece of trash as my congressman.........
Zalaya loves Obama and the feeling appears mutual.
Check out the pic of Zelaya holding up a poster of Obama and smiling here(it is too big to post):
I have read that Honduras is vastly wealthy in natural resources. My take is that they plan to keep Honduran true democracy under their thumb, rip off their resources, and possibly even use Honduras as a base of operations when the invading Communist army comes up from the south into the U.S.-—just something to think about. You know how tight the USSR is with Latin America. Also, the Chinese have a big stake in the Panama Canal. The Chinese have been making the canal wider so they can get those big ships through into the port of Houston.
No, as far as I know, Obama has not given any evidence or reasoning for his actions. But when our president sides with Chavez, Castro, and the UN....we all know what is coming our way.
Figures the organization founded by Communists would support a dictator.
Looks like the military and the people of Honduras are more aggressive than Americans when it comes to their President breaking their Constitutional law. Now who would have ever thought the Hondurans were more committed to the rule of law than are Americans? From where I sit, the people of Honduras are more committed to their rule of law than Americans.
The Hondurans have made a loud, clear, and decisive statement to the world. They will not tolerate a communist as President. So what did they do? They kicked his communist ass out of the country.
Kudos for the Hondurans. Pray for America as we pray for you. We find ourselves at a similar intersection. The light is flashing red continuously. So, liike the Hondurans, sooner or later, one of us will have to risk running it. Once one brave soul takes the risk, the rest, who still believe in the rule of law, are sure to follow.
Of course the communists in our midst will never follow. And they will be a great nuisance. But I remain confident, that inspite of electing a communist for President, most citizens in America are free market capitalists who support a Constitutional Republic. What the flashpoint will be to cause them to awaken remains illusive for now. But I figure, it’s coming sooner rather than later.
But we disagree.
I suggest capturing Zelaya, extraditing him home to the Honduras so he can be waterboarded by the Honduran military brass.
I thought dictators were only interested in preserving their own interests.
Of course the UN wouls back the socialists. They are a organization that backs terrorists, terrorism and socialists
May the Hondurans drill any blue helmets sent their way, no matter from which member state.
The UN is getting to be like the ACLU, where I don’t even really need to know what they’re doing...I sort of know they’re doing the opposite of what I believe.
Yes, we disagree. You say waterboarding in Honduras. I say speedy trial and then Zelaya is shot for attempting to overthrow the nation’s Constitution.
What he did was treason. Plain and simple.
although current updates are very important to all of us, let us not forget and continue to postthe history of this event.
That the man was doing something that their supreme court said was wrong.
That their supreme court ordered his arrest and removal.
The MSM has a tendency to forget facts and cherry pick to suit Obama’s radical goals.
One wonders about whom you are referring... don’t answer.
