Obama scores major, much-needed victory: Energy legislation designed to curb global warming
WTHI-TV / The Associated Press ^ | June 28, 2009 | Liz Sidoti

Facing a rare defeat, President Barack Obama put a big dose of political capital on the line and scored a major victory just when he needed one.

In private telephone conversations and last-minute public appeals, Obama leaned heavily on House Democratic holdouts to support the first energy legislation ever designed to curb global warming. The measure ended up passing in dramatic fashion.

In the end, the president's furious lobbying — coupled with a final push by allies including former Vice President Al Gore — carried much weight. To a certain extent, the victory validated Obama's governing style — and that could bode well for his other top domestic priority, health care. He faces an even more difficult test in shepherding the energy and climate legislation through the Senate.

Inhofe says that it has no chance in the Senate. Obama just burned a lot of political capital for nothing and hung a bunch of Rat Congressmen out to dry for 2010.

...designed to curb global warming.

What "global warming"? I thought they started calling their scam, "climate change" after their "global warming" hoax was exposed by real scientists.

Despite all the claims that it won’t pass, I do not underestimate Obie-the-one and his minions.

These articles make it sound like a done deal. The Senate won’t even take this up before Sept and they will get an earful from their voters before then. Even Reid says it’s not likely to pass.

"Inhofe says that it has no chance in the Senate."

Will Senator Inhofe guarantee that with a deed to his house? I didn't think so! Next week's Tea Parties need to get the folks mobilized to cal their senators and let them know we can't afford this boondoggle!!

This bill wasn’t designed to curb global warming, it has nothing it which address dimming the sun, changing the ocean currents or cooling the ocean water.

“hung a bunch of Rat Congressmen out to dry for 2010”

This vote unmasked at least 8 RINOS who need to be removed from office. I believe it may even harm some Dem congressmen.

My congressman may be one of those rats hanging out to dry next year. Yesterday, he met with a group of constituents and tried to explain his vote. After the tongue lashing he received, he is not going to want to meet with us again.

With the huge majority the Dems enjoy in the House, Obama squeaked by thanks to 8 Reps who voted with the Dems. Yeah, sure twas a great victory.

If ever there was an administration not to be underestimated, this would be the one.

A “victory” which will help to turn Congress back over to the Republicans?

A “victory” which will bankrupt the United States and do NOTHING to help the environment?

The MSM is so stupid!
