Most here are probably younger than I and can’t remember watching a greasy haired Dick Clark on American Bandstand introducing a high pitched singing group belting out “ABC”, or whatever they were doing at the time.
This was the pinnacle of Motown. Diana Ross was out there. So was Gladys Knight.
He has a HUGE catalog of songs and videos. Few of them could come on the air these days without the people hearing it thinking back to what they were doing when they first heard it.
These days, some gal can record a couple songs, and the next thing you know she’s the best thing since sliced bread. Kinda over the top, IMHO.

You’re exactly right. Michael Jackson is a couple of years older than I am and I was following him from the very beginning. Me and my older brother used to lay on his bed at night and listen to his 8 tracks of the Jackson Five. The haters on these threads can’t take my comforting childhood memories away from me, no matter how hard they try.
