[Updated at 3:15 p.m.: Pop star Michael Jackson was pronounced dead by doctors this afternoon after arriving at a hospital in a deep coma, city and law enforcement sources told The Times.]
None of that stuff has anything to do with musical quality. And on the radio its especially irrelevant.
I agree. He really was tragic in alot of ways. From his earliest days...he was a performer. He had no childhood; too much responsibility...too many adults depending on him from adolescence on. Too many people with hands out. Too many hangers on.
Like I said. Matter of personal taste. Some people like the image and persona of what Michael Jackson represents, others like the image and persona that George Straight represents.
Don’t expect everyone to worship at the feet of every fallen pop idol.
BTW: you might enjoy the FR republic thread: "Who cares where you were when Michal Jackson died.: ROFL
You see when someone POST'S back to me, it is just polite to answer back, that's the way it goes. Otherwise I would have nothing more to say on that freak on this thread.
I think we can give BenDover the last word, until we find out what really happened in the end.
He had one (or maybe two) rhinplasties at that point. He looked happy, normal (handsome) and so successful. What an awful shame what happened to him.
LOL, yeah, that would be “George Strait” too.
I am awestruck that you can see someone wearing eyeliner and grabbing their crotch via radio music. Incredible!
Were you pleased when John Lennon was killed?
Told ya he’d been ridin’ the Dragon shootin’ Demerol and Morphine. So much for his role model status...........
You call it “music” I call it pathetic pop garbage. Never shall the two be in agreement.
yeah, and that’s just not talent, it is just vocal acrobatic screaming.
And Rap and Atonal music isn’t realy music either right? Yawn.
No normal, well adjusted human can withstand the fame and life that he had. You add in Jackson’s upbringing and it’s surprising he didn’t go out sooner.
Was James Brown talented?
I agree with you. It was never proven that he was a pedophile.
Michael Jackson was America’s leading music star during the days of Reagan and Bush Sr., as communism collapsed. He presented a side of America that apparently was attractive enough to millions of foreigners, many living under oppression.
Rest in peace, Michael Jackson. God bless you.
I’m disgusted by many of the posts here. Very telling about some people.
He was very cute then. Two of my friends in college had the biggest crush on him in that era. I worked at the college TV station when the Thriller video premiered on MTV. We watched it on all the monitors in the control room with the volume turned way up. We were blown away by his talent.
Also, Kris Kristopherson and Willie Nelson better watch out. They’re the only ones alive now that were featured on that People cover. Peter Jennings, Erma Bombeck and Michael, all gone.
