Being under the new convenant, it has no eathly power is my point. It WOULD be very amazing to actually see it with my own eyes, but as another poster pointed out, I believe God concealed it forever becausee of human's tendency to "venerate" such things instead of Him.
Also an interesting point - it never gave armies invincibility. The Israelites did carry it into battle at the command of God and made astonishing degeats against their enemies, but they made the mistake of confusing the earthly created thing with God's power.
In Samuel chapter 4, the israelites were defeated by the Philistines and decided to go get the ark and carry it before them into battle. They got their clocks cleaned - 30 thousand men were slaughtered, a resounding defeat. And in fact their "good luck charm", the ark,was actually captured by the Philistines!
This story has been a good lesson to me. Even if I believe I am doing the work of the Lord, if I go rushing into "battle" without His blessing, I'm not going to succeed. It's called "dragging the ark".
Good intentions do not always sit well with God. He wants our submission.
I believe that everything we do, is part of God’s plan.
