The patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Ethiopia says he will announce to the world Friday the unveiling of the Ark of the Covenant, perhaps the world's most prized archaeological and spiritual artifact, which he says has been hidden away in a church in his country for millennia.....
Abuna Pauolos, in Italy for a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI this week, told the news agency, "Soon the world will be able to admire the Ark of the Covenant described in the Bible as the container of the tablets of the law that God delivered to Moses and the center of searches and studies for centuries."
The announcement is expected to be made at 2 p.m. Italian time from the Hotel Aldrovandi in Rome

I guess that would eliminate a missile being the first.
If that failed, I bet it would be hard to find a second volunteer.
Ping!
Gee, wouldn't it be great if someone, you know like an archeologist, could authenticate ancient artifacts.
So what would an archeologist use as a reference for the Ark of the Covenant, to base his findings on? I’m sure it’s age could be determined, where and how it was made even, but what tells him it’s the original, genuine ark?
So it would seem.
Good grief is right.
Yeah.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
Being under the new convenant, it has no eathly power is my point. It WOULD be very amazing to actually see it with my own eyes, but as another poster pointed out, I believe God concealed it forever becausee of human's tendency to "venerate" such things instead of Him.
Also an interesting point - it never gave armies invincibility. The Israelites did carry it into battle at the command of God and made astonishing degeats against their enemies, but they made the mistake of confusing the earthly created thing with God's power.
In Samuel chapter 4, the israelites were defeated by the Philistines and decided to go get the ark and carry it before them into battle. They got their clocks cleaned - 30 thousand men were slaughtered, a resounding defeat. And in fact their "good luck charm", the ark,was actually captured by the Philistines!
This story has been a good lesson to me. Even if I believe I am doing the work of the Lord, if I go rushing into "battle" without His blessing, I'm not going to succeed. It's called "dragging the ark".
Good intentions do not always sit well with God. He wants our submission.
I’m sure God knew what He was doing when He created Pilate.
I believe that everything we do, is part of God’s plan.
Yes, Antichrist (the Mahdi) will make good use of this false ark.
Flies will fly out? - Good chance!
Should it match all of those criteria, well then.....
People would still question its authenticity.
Thanks for the information. I will read the book. I appreciate your research.
