Well, there went his political career.

BS. That's what the Dems and the MSM are hoping. They like to play whack-a-mole whenever any viable Rep candidate emerges.

“They like to play whack-a-mole whenever any viable Rep candidate emerges. “

Knowing the MSM is what it is, you’d have to even further call into question what the hell Sanford was thinking by doing this.

I like him as much as everyone around here does.

That said, if the stress of battling the white house and state legislature over stimulus, causes him to “wig out” to Buenos Aires (if true)....especially without it being known ahead of time....

This tells me he’s not only not ready for his hand to be on the “red phone” but he’s not a terribly responsible governor. I hate to say it, because I admire the man.

If I were one of his constituents, I’d be fuming over such an irresponsible act. And no, I can’t blame the MSM, if this version of the story is true. He ended any upward progression of his career all by himself, sadly.

I’m hoping this is a reporting error and the real truth comes out later.

I have stayed out of this so far, I really didn't think it would turn out to be that big of a deal. Having said that, if the Governor of a State leaves not only the State, but the COUNTRY without transferring power, I would think that is extremely irresponsible, possibly even impeachable!

This goes beyond "needing a little time alone to recharge". What if a major city in SC would have been wiped out by a tornado? Or other disaster. Who besides the Gov has the authority to deploy the resources needed for immediate relief?

I have just taken him off my potential 2012 support list. Even if he has a benign reason for leaving, he left without transferring his responsibilities. That is inforgivable, and extremely irresponsible!

I agree with you. However, Sanford should know this and be extra-cautious and conscious about his behavior.
