I’m OK with that story - but if true, Sanford needs to go on and clear it all up, including that the hiking thing was speculation that he never said himself.

As SC resident and as someone who has voted for Mark Sanford in multiple primaries, three Congressional general elections and two Gubernatorial general elections, I will say I have no problem he took the trip, but I would feel better if his staff and wife could say they knew where he was. If no one really knew he was in South America, then that makes me feel a little uneasy about Mark Sanford’s judgment, and I am his biggest fan.

Neither does Sanford. Stop repeating the media lies.

"Maybe he was trying to get away from his wife. FoxNews IS now reporting that he claims he went on a cruise."
Again, I could care less except this guy has presidential asparations. If he went on a cruise without his wife, then you have to wonder who he went on the cruise with? I mean, really no one goes on a cruise alone do they? I don't want to find out that he's a closeted gay or some party boy with wild women when he becomes our nominee in 2012. I want to find out now.

Maybe he went to a day spa and was brainwashed for a week to kill the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Hey, it's happened before.

"But I said 'no' I wanted to do something exotic," Sanford said "... It's a great city." Yea, he did something exotic all right. Exotically bizarre.

Or maybe he just read the headline: Yep, I should have checked it out first. Brian K does joke around a lot, though.

I like Sanford, but his and his staff's bizarre behavior throughout this entire episode in not good to say the least, it's detrimental.

Jim DeMint was on Glenn Beck’s TV show last night. When Glenn asked DeMint what he thought of the Sanford episode and whether he could “vouch for” Sanford’s character, his response was . . . well, odd, and a little evasive.

"Sanford said he has taken adventure trips for years to unwind. He has visited such places as the coast of Turkey, the Greek Isles and South America. He was with friends sometimes and sometimes by himself."
This is really a tempest in a teapot. Don't governors have a right to take a vacation? Obvioiusly, if you read the story, at least one of his aides knew where he was and was in contact with him, which is why he cut his trip short.
Here in VA the GOP has filed a FOIA request to learn the whereabouts and travels of Tim Kaine, our governor who also happens to be the DNC Chairman. Adrian Fenty, the Mayor of DC, goes on his personal travels, which are not disclosed to the public.
Sanford has made some political enemies outside and within his party. I heard him speak at CPAC. He is a viable Presidential candidate in 2012. The Dems would like to destroy him in much the same way that they have attacked Palin. The MSM is part of that effort. If I were Sanford, I would just tell them to f**k off and ignore it.

Yes, he shouldn’t be doing these things. He should only stay within his political cocoon and class and remain out-of-touch with the electorate. /s

It looks like it was politics that backfired on those that want Sanford's position.
Also...notice that since it failed in smearing Sanford it is no longer all over the MSM news.
