razzacraft: RT Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani to speak, unconfirmed #Mousavi #Iran Election #iranelection #Tehran
Unnamed BBC reporter live-reporting from Tehran:
I'm in the centre of Tehran close to Enghelab Square, where the demonstration was supposed to have been held. But there's a huge security presence here, thousands of men from every possible service: police, Revolutionary Guard, military police, the riot police in full riot gear, and the much-feared basiji - religious paramilitaries who see themselves as the shock troops of the Islamic revolution. It's impossible for any groups of people to get through these to Enghelab Square and hold their demonstration.
If this continues and the opposition can't find some way around the fierce security then the protests against the results of the presidential election will have been defeated, at least for the time being.
The real strength of the protest has been its ability to get huge numbers of people together into the streets.
Now, the government has trumped that and shown it has the power to lock down the city centre and regain the streets.

Witnesses report fierce clashes on Tehran streets
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - Witnesses said police beat protesters and fired tear gas and water cannons at thousands who rallied in Tehran Saturday in open defiance of Iran's clerical government, sharply escalating the most serious internal conflict since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
The eyewitnesses described fierce clashes near Revolution Square in central Tehran after some 3,000 protesters chanted "Death to the dictator!" and "Death to dictatorship!" Police responded with tear gas and water cannons.
The witnesses told The Associated Press that between 50 and 60 protesters were seriously beaten by police and pro-government militia and taken to Imam Khomeini hospital in central Tehran. People could be seen dragging away comrades bloodied by baton strikes.
Helicopters hovered over central Tehran. Ambulance sirens echoed through the streets and black smoke rose over the city.
Tehran University was cordoned off by police and militia while students inside the university chanted "death to the dictator," witnesses said.

I don’t know what is happening between the U.S. and France. There has been nothing in the news for quite some time.
The Panamanian citizenry doesn’t want him. But should he come to Panama, Panama has a law that folks starting at 70 years of age do not go to jail. I don’t know if this would then mean house arrest. It could be...but I just don’t know.
Thank you for asking, and I’m sorry I couldn’t give you any up-to-date information. We are all curious about this here also.

Of course, he’s not up to the job. Nothing in his past would have given him the preparation. However, he should be making clear that this nation’s sympathies are with the masses who want the end of corruption, the rule of law, and self-government. Obama has no problem interfering in Israel and telling them what to do to curry favor with the aberrant Left. It’s time Obama told the mullahs the world is watching and the world sees what a cruel clique of corrupt old coots they are. There must be consequences made clear to them.

Interesting. AFP is reporting (via Iran's deputy police chief) it as a suicide bomber.
One wounded in suicide attack at Khomeini mausoleum
"A suicide bomber blew himself up at the Tehran mausoleum of Iranian revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini on Saturday, killing himself and wounding a pilgrim, a police official told the Mehr news agency.
"Minutes ago, a terrorist detonated his explosive vest in the Imam Khomeini shrine. The blast caused damage in one section of the shrine," said Iran's deputy police chief for operations, Hossein Sajedinia.
"The bomber was killed and one pilgrim wounded," he added."
