THE OBAMA EFFECT: US ENEMIES SEEING WEAKNESS
NY Post ^ | June 16, 2009 | Ralph Peters

IT must have been the viewing angle: The despots who run Iran somehow missed the halo gracing President Obama during his recent sermon to the Muslim world.

The ruling mullahs' contemptuous handling of Iran's presidential election was their response to "the Cairo effect" announced a tad prematurely by the White House.

Our president's public flagellation of America only emboldened the junta in Tehran -- leaving Iran's power brokers more defiant, determined and dismissive than they've been in years.

And the strongest response Obama can muster to the blood in Tehran's streets is: "I am deeply troubled by the violence that I've been seeing on television." How bold, how manly, how inspiring . . .

Our president's speechwriters made the same mistake no end of diplomats and pundits made before them: They didn't pause to consider the enemy's viewpoint. Like Obama himself, they didn't bother trying to understand the mullahs' logic for acting as they do.

Obama believed that his rhetoric would change the strategic environment -- and his White House apostles wasted no time before declaring that his Cairo speech was responsible for Hezbollah's electoral setback in Lebanon a few days later.

Then administration spokespersons panted to take credit for the "inevitable" election of Mir Hossein Mousavi in Iran. But the men who run Iran didn't play along: Every Basij (regime-thug) baton cracking a demonstrator's skull in Tehran is a -- distinctly clenched -- fist shoved in Obama's face.

but his speech in Cairo was to “open a new dialogue of understanding between the US and Iranians - it was a new hope (joke) that was going to bring us together - it’s a positive step forward”

0bama got it wrong - could it be -

"Weakness?"

How about craven capitulation?

Words have meaning, elections have consequences.

You asked for it
You got it!

Some days it's hard for Obama to decide between wearing his “Captain Clueless” tights and cape or his “America in Bondage” leathers. I guess it depends on who he plans on addressing on his daily news conferences. I wonder if the media has permanent camera set ups or if their wearing out the lawn setting up every day? It's become obvious that the leaders of the rest of the world recognize him for the narcissistic joke that he is, it's a shame that he's still fooling so many idiots here.

No it isn't. I'm sure that's the angle that 0 and his minions are going to drag out and try to run by the American people, but it is going to be impossible to sell. Even 0's most ardent supporters are starting to see that The One is a opportunistic charlatan who picks and chooses those consequences that he selectively credits to himself.

0's a fraud!

But how could that be? The dim party was going to reset our relationship with the world. They were going to show that we were no longer a “cowboy” nation you know, kinder and gentler. The world was going to love us again compared to how they “hated” us for electing GWBush. (Sarc big time) Anyone with a 2nd grade education could see that by electing a rookie with NO experience and NO loyalty we would be projecting a HUGE message of weakness and lack of leadership. All for the sake of showing the world that we are no longer racists by electing a black man. Horse you know what. He is our first affirmative action president. HEY DIM VOTERS, guess what, you will be hit just as hard or worse that those of us that saw this circus act coming.

I agree. For every “world leader” who felt warm fuzzies when Zero was elected, twenty dictators started rubbing their palms together and said or thought, “what a sucker those yanks just elected.”

What’s going on was all too predictable. Hell, even “Plugs” Biden could see it coming.
