Exactly. This apology, if that is what it was, was not self-induced. Their was no heartfelt apology. It was Dave saving his a** after he began to see the tide turning on him.
And even then, he distorts the truth by talking about a ‘misconception’ of the intent of the joke. Uh-huh. And he states that his research didn’t reveal that the 14-year old Willow was there!
This was a scripted joke folks. Scripted. NOT unscripted like Imus. He knew what he was doing all the way up to the outrage. Letterman needs to go! Don’t let up. He will come back to haunt us like a mad man in the run-up to the White House just as he did with McCain when he canceled his show. The road to the WH goes through Late Night. He needs to be eviscerated from the late night mantle.
