“Joking about frigid Jewish wives on television? Whoever heard of such a thing?”

I felt the same way with Leno. He was quite funny and talented his first few years. When all the anti Bush jokes started to pile up in the last couple of years. I turned off his show and haven’t watch a second of it since. As for Letterman, He was never ever on my tv. I don’t see why anyone would want to watch his show. It’s not funny or entertaining at all.

"I’m glad to see NOW finally coming out to condemn what Letterman said...."

Please direct me to the address/site for a National Organization for White Guys; I'm quite interested in their take on the Palin/Letterman issue.

[First they came for the (__), then they came for the (___), then.....]

PS: Does anyone else miss Steve Allen?

I have some old kinescopes of Ernie Kovacs;he was way ahead of his time.I also enjoyed Groucho Marx and Red Skelton. All the great comedians never used profanity in a vain attempt to be funny or relevant.I still hear Red Skelton doing the pledge of allegiance occasionally and I still get a lump in my throat.God,I miss those times.

I agree. There is a sadness that comes with old age, if your nation is crumbling like ours seems to be.

I would have told people they were completely nuts if they cold me in 1988, how quickly this nation could be brought down.

I’m almost sorry I lived long enough to see the country I love and fought for could be destroyed so quickly. The ranenous hordes of parasites will lay waste to this beautiful land and in the end there is nothing we will be able to do about it.

Unless there is an awakening, you are right.

I don’t know how that awakening is facilitated though, because no matter what the left’s leaders do and bring upon this great nation, it’s never their fault.

Perhaps after we’ve lost a few cities, some of the leftists will wax rhapsodic and miss their relatives enough to catch on. I’m not holding my breath.

Clinton brought us 09/11 but allowing Laden to remain free, and the left couldn’t have cared less about that.

I'll gladly take that representation...and as a badge of honor. Floyd was damn funny. And silly.

Something the Left could never be, doncha know.

I have faint memories of Jack Paar , pre-Johnny, no Steve
Allen memories tho, I was mighty young.

I love watching some of the old comedy, all done live at the time., Ernie Kovacs too.

You are so right. Oh how I miss the days of comedians like Red Skelton, Sid Caesar, Jack Benny, George Burns and Gracie Allen, and all the clean comedians of that era. They were genuinely funny without ever making a sexual reference; without demeaning women or minorities or the disabled; without offcolor innuendo.

The late night TV comedians are dirtier now than the acts at Las Vegas. They seem to forget that they are being invited into people’s livingrooms, and are not in the back room at the Comedy Club.

Time for them ALL to clean up their acts.

That’s about it for me too. My memories of Allen were based on video footage I’ve seen. I wasn’t particularly a Par fan, but like you I was very young.

I remember many nights on Carson when he was still doing the hour and a half show. They were absolutely magical. You’d have Hope, Martin, and Gobel, or a few folks with John Wayne. You really felt like you saw a little inside their soul, because they actually talked like normal people, and weren’t there just to show you a video clip of their latest movie.

Today’s night show isn’t 10% of what those shows were.

[”Netanyahu said it will be exactly like being married to a Jewish woman.” Ba-dump-bump. ]

That joke is a generic male bonding joke, it isn’t directed at anyone in particular and is the opposite of inciting someone to rape. Lighten up people. It isn’t like women in general haven’t held back sex, or am missing something?

Truly have not watched any of them for years. Can’t stand litterman, conin makes us laugh and jay...guess he was OK but never watched them. Only saw clips of this or that. there is no real comedy anymore like the old days. Just filth mouth and trash talk which tells me a LOT about those using it. :)

>>>Carol Wayne. She drowned at about age 40.

>>>I didn’t think it was anatomically possible.

Some think it was no accident. Her acting career was stalled and she had turned to prostitution. How she drowned in the shallow bay (4 feet deep) considering she was supposedly afraid of water remains curious.

In 1984, Carol Wayne (the Matinee girl from the Johnny Carson show) declared bankruptcy, appeared nude in the February issue of Playboy (and was seen nude in her final film, Heartbreakers, co-starring Peter Coyote. Good friend, the late Richard Pryor tried to come to her rescue by offering her a part in his upcoming film and he also agreed to pay for her (cocaine) rehabilitation.

Instead of taking Pryor up on his offer, on January 1985, Carol and her mysterious and shady companion Edward Durston traveled to Mexico and stayed at the “Las Hadas Resort,” where Carol drowned in the shallow bay waters of Manzanillo, Mexico.

After her absence due to drowning, Durston didn’t even bother to look for her. When she hadn’t returned to the hotel room the following morning, Durston didn’t even file a missing person’s report with the police. Instead, he checked them both out of the hotel and he took Carol’s luggage to the airport telling employees she would pick it up the next day. When Carol’s body was finally discovered in the presence of Durston, he still didn’t alert authorities, a stranger did.

Carol was pronounced dead at age 42 on Jan. 13, 1985 and Durston hightailed it out of Mexico. During the initial investigation, witnesses say the couple were arguing before her death.

Ironically, Edward Durston was also with Diane Linkletter (daughter of Art Linkletter) when she committed suicide in 1969.

Edward Durston was never charged with murder in either death.

Yeah...he STILL, right up ‘til the end, kept having the Bush impersonator on and doing Bush is stupid jokes. Even ‘tho he’s been out of office for months. The only reason I watched him is I hate Letterman more.
