As for Letterman, he has become increasingly bitter and angry since he got embroiled with Ms Lasko, it may be a coincidence, but it maybe not..
I think anger comes from a lot of places. I think for people of Letterman’s status, it comes from being so far removed from normal life. For all the things your fame and wealth can provide, there’s a whole list of things that you can no longer do. I think that must be very difficult. I think it’s difficult to be an old man in a young man’s world. I think it’s hard to be a man who knows he’ll probably never see how his son turns out. By all accounts, he adores that little boy and, yes, Ms. Lasko has apparently used that little boy as a pawn. So, all those put together makeup and very angry man. And he is..I can’t even watch him.
When I was in college, when he first started out (that was SO long ago, it’s hard to even imagine it) we used to have Letterman parties. He was so new and fresh. Now, he is so old and crotchety. His schtick is so played out it really amazes me that people still watch him. And that Paul Shaeffer laughing at his everyworld like a trained seal is so embarrassing. I truly don’t know why anyone watches those shows. Any of them. Conan is worse.
None of the late night hosts realize what it was that made Johnny Carson such a master. CARSON KNEW WHEN TO SHUT UP. He knew when to crack a joke, and when to let the guest have the spotlight. These yahoos truly think it’s always about them.
