Hasn’t the left been telling us that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s opinions and words don’t matter because he’s only President and it’s really the mullahs who run Iran? How much you wanna bet that changes if Mahmoud Ahmadinejad lost.

The mullets won't give up power. They neutered the last so-called “reformer” who was elected.

Wonderful! I understand the winner is willing to wait until next January to incinerate Israel. A true win for democracy!

Fact is, this election is fake. Critical policy changes do not hang in the balance. It’s mostly meant as a show and the American state-run media are gobbling it up. The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, pre-approves who is even allowed to run for president. The whole thing is a farce and too many Americans are paying attention like it matters.

Much Ado About Nothing
And as a commenter said:
Eric Damon| 6.11.09 @ 7:01AM
"It amazes me how the press is covering the upcoming Iranian election as if they are free, fair, and will have any real consequences. The Guardian's Council picks the candidates and the Supreme Leader makes the real decisions, so the president is basically irrelevant. Whomever wins the election is simply the public face of the nation's rulers and is going to do their bidding regardless of their public rhetoric. Ahmadenijad has done nothing that the rulers disagree with and neither will the winner of this election, and to pretend otherwise is a fool's errand. No matter the winner we can expect the same actions with maybe more soothing words, but the policies of the Iranian regime are not going to change."

1. It’s not true
2. It doesn’t matter — the Mullah’s & Ayatollahs run Iran anyway
3. This is to actually prop up OUR mealy-mouthed, weak-kneed “leader”
4. Iran will continue it’s nuclear weapons development unabated regardless

It’s s scam; the ayatollahs still call the shots and now Iran can pretend that it elected a moderate because of Obama. They will get even more concessions out of him now.
