<ADDADICKTOME
The first time I heard Rush say this (re some benefits for San Fran workers), I had a terrible problem with the word. ‘omy’ ought to mean something taken away, but yet, the word started with ‘adda.’ (ok, probably not a proper Latin prefix, but things change through time and I was willing to go with the flow...) How could you have a word with both etymologies?
Let me just say that many, many years of school did not help me realize what he meant until Rush talked about it on a couple of shows. When I did realize it, I had to admit that 1) apparently the book learning is getting in the way of a sense of humor and 2) I was kind of surprised that Rush said it, though I do think that Rush has gotten a bit more ‘adult’ in the past few years.
Yeah I do think he’s grown up in recent years.
I was just reminded, in the recent Letterman/Palin flap
on, of all places ,the NOW website (!), that way back in Clinton’s first term, maybe first year, Limbaugh held up a picture of Chelsea and referred to her as “the White House dog”. Now that is cheap! NOW put Letterman into their Media Hall of Shame, and made reference to the Limbaugh remark at the end of their piece.
Don’t get Rush started talking about “Little Dick Gephart”
Well i got to tell you that saying or word regardless of the spelling has been around since the 70s Rush did not just make it up
