No Naval Swords for U.S.N.A. Graduation this year Threat to the Dear Leader Inside the Beltway

From today's you couldn't make it up if you tried file.......Obama's protectors have ordered graduating Midshipmen....and I suppose Commissioned Officers through Flag rank...to leave their swords at home. Full Dress White includes "wear sword". More to the point...those badges of office have been earned in a manner Obongo and his minions just wouldn't begin to understand. Important traditions that inspire are kind of lost on the red banner crowd, apparently.

Further, ceremonial swords never seemed to bother the Secret Service for any previous President. And before World War II, the swords were not particularly "ceremonial", I've seen some of those blades, boarding actions did occur on the China Station pre-war against river pirates, warlords, etc. Those swords were worn not just to graduation, but to Inaugurations, in the receiving line at the White House afterward, to the Inaugural Ball. Somehow nobody gave it a second thought. Somehow even Presidents in the past didn't presume to specify items of uniform.

But of course, what worked for Harry Truman, Ronald Reagan, F.D.R., the Bushes, T.R., any other rational non-cult leader.....doesn't work for this former state senator anointed by the Chicago machine.

So they aren’t issue but they STILL won’t be allowed to have their swords in the Dear Leader’s presence? I don’t see this as much of a change.

I would be very curious to know if this is a new policy? At my commissioning ceremony I received my first salute from a Marine NCO and some other officers were given their father’s or uncle’s sabers.

PS When my grandson graduated his parents gave him a sword as a present AFTER he had graduated.

I used to get hoity-toity, miss military manners types tell me I couldn’t use sabers in a saber arch inside a chapel...after all you can’t “bear arms” in a chapel. (Sure didn’t come from pioneer America, did it.)

In any case, I just told them to bring their sabers; to hell with miss manners. She and her friends could stand in the rain outside with their arms arched and get drenched.

So, to the USNA Grad folks, tell the protocol guy to take a hike. If some president ever buys it, it isn’t gonna be from our military. That’s always done by some theater major or some former commie wannebe.

My knowledge base begins in 2003, when my son entered the Academy, through this year’s graduation.

NOBODY WEARS SWORDS AT A USNA GRADUATION!

That includes Midshipmen, graduating Midshipmen, visiting military officers, the Academy Superintendent (a 3-star), the Academy Commandant (a Navy Captain or a USMC Col.)

NOBODY WEARS SWORDS! NOBODY!

Swords are not, and have not been part of the prescribed uniform for anybody attending a USNA graduation.

This story is BS, and I believe that it takes us off-target: there is plenty for us to dislike about Pres. Obama and his policies.

Let’s not spin our wheels by focusing on things like this.
