SEOUL, South Korea (AP) North Korea is preparing to launch three or four medium-range missiles, along with an intercontinental ballistic missile, amid moves by Kim Jong Il to anoint his third son as heir to the world's first communist dynasty, reports and experts said Tuesday.
South Korea's Yonhap news agency said the North is preparing to fire three to four medium-range missiles from Anbyon on its east coast.
"Many vehicles mounted with mobile launchers are being spotted" at Anbyon, Yonhap quoted an unnamed government official saying. "It looks like at least three missiles will be launched."
The North has also transported what is believed to be its most advanced intercontinental ballistic missile to a base near China in the west, officials confirmed.

SEOUL, South Korea North Korea has moved its most advanced long-range missile to a new launch site and has banned ships from the waters off its west coast through the end of July, news reports said Monday, moves that threaten to exacerbate tensions on the peninsula.
The missile, which has arrived at the Dongchang-ni launch site on the northwest coast, is believed to be a version of the Taepodong-2 rocket that the North fired on April 5 saying it was a satellite launch, the South Korean Dong-a Ilbo newspaper reported.
The North could fire the missile as early as June 16 when South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and President Barack Obama hold a summit in Washington, the paper said, citing unidentified officials in Washington and Seoul.

N. Korea believed to be preparing for ICBM launch

SEOUL, May 30 (Yonhap) North Korea appears to be preparing for a long-range missile test, an informed source said Saturday, defying the U.N. Security Council whose members are negotiating a resolution to punish it for its recent nuclear test.
The source, asking not to be identified, said an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) was recently spotted on a cargo train near Pyongyang, the North Korean capital.
The missile has since been moved to an undisclosed location, according to the source.
It usually takes about two months to set up a launch pad, but the process could be done in as little as two weeks, which means the North could launch a long-range missile as early as in mid-June, the source said.

I’d love to see a carrier group steam up and down the edge of NK’s terrirorial waters, and intercept their missiles (can they do that?), then launch a cruise with no warhead missile aimed at Kim Jing Il’s office, but self destruct it close enough to leave no doubt as to what could have been. I.e. close enough to leave a nice piece of shrapnel on his front doorstep.... just to let that old commie know what the rattle of a real sabre sounds like.
“...are we sure this all just a test...”
OPINION:
It seems to me one can’t be sure of anything these days (when it comes to America’s enemies).
But haven’t you heard? Obama’s date night was a success!
Hussein silent on NK...Axelrod & Rahm don't know what to put in his teleprompter yet.

“North Korea and the Real Nuclear Option”
By: Dr. Earl Tilford
FrontPageMagazine.com | Tuesday, June 02, 2009
SNIPPET: “Those are the options, and none of them are better than idle threats and belligerent banter. It takes a super power to be a superpower. When a nation is economically strapped, more concerned with continuing comfortable living for the present than overburdening its progeny with debt, so uncertain of its moral efficacy as to begs the worlds forgiveness for sins more imagined than real, and has gutted its military and intelligence capabilities to this extent, it finds itself unable to respond to the gravest provocations, even when issued from someone as ridiculous as North Koreas Dear Leader.”
Collectively, North Korea represents nothing so much as the nutjob who’s trying to commit suicide by cop. Trouble is, they’re gonna take a lot of cops with them.
Thank you for your contribution.

Not sure about the thanks. Whether it be for being a simple flight-deck Aviation Sailor of the US Navy or the fact that I would like to see the bad guys experience 1,000,000 degrees.
Either way, I thank you, Sir. You are one of the few I believe to be real and trust for Asian info on this board. Thank you for that.
BTW, I've been to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Kowloon, Singapore, Manilla, Cebu, Japan (numerous towns/cities), Australia (Perth), and others I can't recall at the moment.
So what's your deal? Why are you living abroad in Japan? Business? I would guess such. Don't mean to pry, just curious. Freep mail if you want to tell me...
Best
