Baseball would be better off without shirts such as these (and the attitude behind it that catalyzes it). They’ve gone too much in the direction of diminishing kid attendance over the years (mostly night games now, high prices, high salaries, bad press, drugs), and kid attendance is their future. Slogans like this does put a damper on family attendance; the kids that do go to games tend to be a rougher crowd.

One of the first baseball games I attended was at Angels’ Stadium - against Seattle. I was sitting in the right field area. When The Mariners came out to field a guy behind me shouted to Susuki “Ichiro you suck!” Everyone around laughed, but I thought it very unfair as Ichiro is a damn good player.
My companion explained that it was just gamesmanship.
