Former President George W. Bush may finally upstage Dick Cheney this week. After months of silence while Cheney has been blasting away at President Obama, Bush is scheduled to make two semi-public appearances.

Tonight he'll speak to to the Economic Club of Southwest Michigan at Lake Michigan College. It's being billed as his first major speech to an American audience. The news media will be allowed to attend the event, but not record it. Right.

You can say that again. Let any of the Bushes talk and say their peace. It is better than listening to the socialist, windbag teleprompter.

That's the point. He DOESN'T fight. That is why the Rats own Washington right now. Because he thought he was being magnanimous by taking a beating and never sticking up for himself or other Republicans.

Guess Mark McKinnon will tell W to say all nice things about Obama and all bad things about Cheney and Bush!! Not only Mark advises him badly, but so does Laura!..I think she’s a moderate Democrat also!

Don’t be so sure. He’s not stressed.

I would much rather Bush not look like a democrat by sniping at obi, the sitting prez.

Let Cheney and others do it.

“He has always been a terrible speaker. I don’t think it’s going to go well for him.”

Well at least W doesn’t get the shivering D.T.’s without a teleprompter. Right now we don’t have a POTUS, just a TOTUS.

After months of silence...

Yeah, like 96 months of silence.

On balance I like George Bush on a number of levels, but it is almost unforgivable that George Bush almost totally ceded the pulpit to the left. He never stood up for himself or conservative values and polices. He didn't really keep the country on board with the war, and almost totally abandoned leadership. That abandonment lead to a vacuum which the hard left and the corrupt MSM gladly filled...for 8 long years. Like a child throwing a tantrum in the backseat of a car on a long trip, voters were more than eager to dump Republicans to stop the cacophony of shrieking liberals throwing a national tantrum.

Tonight he’ll speak to to the Economic Club of Southwest Michigan at Lake Michigan College.

Goodness...is this a joke? Economics???? How to spend money and lots of it?

It'll probably be about the economy and the socialist serfdom Obama wishes to impose. But I don't really expect this to be too blistering.

That's the thanks [the Bushes] get for giving their blood, sweat and tears to keep this country safe all these years. Can the same be said of the Kennedy family? For all their flaws I would rather have any of the Bushes in the White House right now over what we are stuck with.

What a healthy, adult attitude!

I had my differences with GWB. But I never doubted that he was a.) a good man and b.) loved his country.

He deserves credit for mounting the War on Terror and staying with it -- against heavy political odds. And for keeping every American's family safe for the past eight years.

The WOT was the most important single issue of his time -- and he earned a passing grade.

Nope. That's the thanks they get for being terrible political leaders, focusing on pandering, spending, and purging Reaganism out of the GOP.

His administration *did* do that portion of the job well, but that's not all there is to the mission.

His inability to walk and chew gum at the same time WRT the War on Terror, controlling domestic spending, and simply *defending* himself from 'rat attacks set the stage for the disaster of a government we're saddled with today.

He had the opportunity to deal a serious blow to the left, but he decided to go along with them instead.

Laura is definitely a liberal, certainly a democrat. Ultimately, I think she was the single biggest problem with W’s presidency.

Like his father, he surrounded himself with some terrible people (McKinnon, Powell, Whitman, Ridge, McClellan, etc). Thank God he picked some good ones, too (Cheney and Rumsfeld, specifically).

Bush will say nothing. Despite being relentlessly pummeled, he will say nothing to defend himself, his policies, or his principles. That seems to be his M.O.

W doesn't know squat about economics, but who knew Southwest Michigan has an economic club?

“He has always been a terrible speaker...”

Correction: “He has always been a terrible PUBLIC speaker...”

Anyone who has ever met with GW in private knows he’s just the opposite in a meeting. He is very eloquent, very direct, no stumbling and his language is pretty salty. Everyone knows he’s in charge. And he has a memory like a steel trap.

Too bad the public never got to see that!

I guess the Ghetto boy with the teleprompter is a much better speaker.
