Citing Diversity Obama Sides with Leftist Group and Investigates More Accurate Radio Ratings System
NewsBusters.org ^ | 05/19/2009 | Seton Motley

On April 9 we wrote of an asinine assertion made about the new Arbitron radio ratings system by soon to be transferred Democratic Federal Communications Committee (FCC) Commissioner Jonathan Adelstein. Well now President Barack Obama has put the imprimatur of his FCC and Administration on Adelstein's addled notion...

... Obviously, this is far more accurate way to establish who is listening to whom, right? If you do find this to be a self-evident truth, you are not a master of the obvious, you are - according to the National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters (NABOB) - a racist bigot.

There would be plenty of diversity if Obama would get out of the way.

People would learn what prosperity really is.

People ought to kill their TV’s, forget about buying new ones, and start reading books.

Great. Now Obama will want to have book burnings recycling drives. Drop all of your Thomas Sowell and Ayn Rand books into the chipper so they can be bleached, turned into new pages and reprinted as Bill Ayers books.

Let me see if I understand this.

The National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters (NABOB) is an organization of, for and by black people to combat racism?

No one sees some irony there?

So, is ‘the chosen one’ going to take over radio & television also?!!!

I’ll be very TICKED OFF if I can’t listen to Rush, etc. without interference (listening to the ‘other side’ as if we don’t hear from them enough already!) from Obama & Co!!!

The day they pass the fairness doctrine is the day when the revolution begins.

In the event the so-called Fairness Doctrine (or some variable thereof) becomes the law of the land...I can see the surge of interest in XM/Sirius, should the premier Conservative broadcasters decide to offer their talents on a pay to hear basis.

I for one would sign up in a heartbeat and pay the installation and subscription costs just to ensure I could hear what I want to hear as I attempt to achieve...life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

My TV is a DVD/BluRay monitor. I'm not interested in "broadcast" TV or satellite channels. I've had both and rejected both. The advent of DTV finds the signal unreliable over the air. Crappy content. Crappy technical delivery. Why bother?

Oh, you didn’t know? There’s a new program for free cellphones for the poor.

Oh goodie. Is this yet another government funded entitlement program? It doesn't look like a particularly profitable business approach.

“Kill the advertising revenue for talk radio and you kill the format. “

Advertisers are not dumb. They’d figure out quickly which ads are effective and which not.

People who advertise tax relief (if you owe over one hundred thousand dollars call us NOW) and Lexus on a station catering to people with lower incomes and a small audience will notice the difference from advertising on Rush, even if the “numbers” say the “minority” station gets a million listeners per week, while Rush gets six listeners on a good day.

They can “enhance” the numbers to make it look like the social justice they want, but it is actual listeners who buy the advertised product, closing the loop with results. Arbitron helps close the loop, saving time, money, and lowering risk.

It's government funded.

SAFELINK WIRELESS® service is U.S. government supported program for Income eligible households provided by TracFone Wireless, Inc. In order to participate in the SAFELINK WIRELESS® service, persons must meet certain eligibility requirements set by each State where the service is to be provided. These requirements are based on a person’s participation in a state or Federal support programs or by meeting the Income Poverty Guidelines as defined by the U.S. Government. SAFELINK WIRELESS® service is limited to one person per household.
