This is an excellent article, well worth the read. Nails trial lawyers and the AFSCME union as the - by far - biggest Rat money and vote suppliers. I’ve never seen these stats anywhere else.

Enlightening as to the money trail. My question is since most of the members of Congress are lawyers determined to increase Government control and power how is raising more money to try and out lobby trial lawyers and the AFSCME going to change their mind? Wouldn't a litmus test for potential candidates be more expedient. IOW if you are a Lawyer coming before my county committee seeking the ballot line forget getting the nomination and use the money raised instead to elect a non-lawyer whose soul is not already owned by the dreams of power acquisition.

The pace is accelerating. It is hard to keep up with the day to day machinations, much less try to factor what each step may mean on the road of unintended (or intended) consequences.

According to the press, Obama is loved, Robin Williams will vote for him again in 2012, and (some figure over 50% of) Americans are happy as pigs in $hit watching the government take over industries, disassemble the free market system, capitalism, and their freedoms.

And our 1.5 party system of Government isn't going to alter course until we are all thralls of the state, or the system collapses on itself.

“ill-fated effort to buy up, not bail out America’s free market economic system”-—
that puts it EXACTLY right and would look REAL good on
a sign at the next protest rally:
Obama is BUYING UP, not BAILING OUT
WITH YOUR MONEY!
And you’re not getting any of it.
The LEFT is getting ALL OF IT!

Americans gave away their freedom by asking government to regulate the free market, beginning around the turn of the 20th century. They, essentially, sought the free lunch, which isn’t free.

I share the author's indictment of lawyers in national politics, though GW, an MBA, was a disappointment.

Is there something in legal education that deforms reasoning? Maybe it is just the Ivy/Oxbridge world view, regardless of one's field.

Palin was refreshing, as an outsider in the mold of the Gipper. I hope she comes up to speed on the issues and tries again.

“A Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.” ~John Adams”

I suggest you read Andrew P. Napolitano's Constitutional Chaos: What Happens When the Government Breaks Its Own Laws.

"Napolitano explains several dangerous precedents in this book, notably:

-eminent domain abuse and the legal twisting of the "takings clause".

-the incredible story of how the FBI let crazy liar Emad Salem swindle them.

-journalists who have been punished for publishing information relevant to court cases.

-Reno's greatest hits: the Waco siege & the Elian Gonzalez kidnapping.

-Brandon Mayfield, a lawyer whose legal defense of the "Portland Six" led to his becoming a terrorist suspect by the FBI.

-closed hearings in immigration trials and the disappearance of individuals in "special interest cases" (!)

-Yasir Hamdi and Jose Padilla and the creation of the term "enemy combatant" and the weakening of habeas corpus."

"Unless you work for it, sell to it, or receive financial assistance from it, the government is not your friend". ~pg. 129 Judge Napolitano should be a Supreme Court justice!

The stats are there and likely the results are correct. But, so far the responses on this thread are interesting. Look at this, look at that, but don't look at ourselves. Interesting.

My take is the author asked me to donate $10-$100 to save my freedom. I'd ask the author to donate it to who? Who should receive all those billions? The GOP? Hardly as far as I can tell, they are just as bad as the DNC.

The problem is the money in politics. Adding billions more to the parties that are already looting the system isn't going to save our freedom. My mom used to say, two wrongs don't make a right. I refuse to cast my lot in with thieves.

We have lost one of our very core founding principles. One the Founding Fathers even wondered if we had when they ventured out to create our new Nation. Virtues and Morals. The left has systematically destroyed that core principle to a free people.

“Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more vicious and corrupt, they have more need of masters,” Writings of Benjamin Franklin 9:569
