Michelle Obama is a phenomena, she has managed to create her own look and pioneer young designers throwing them into design superstardom. And for her latest style outing the First Lady was seen wearing a British designer.
Michelle wore a gorgeous Spring/Summer 09 Basso & Brooke top to the White House Evening of Poetry and Music. She teamed her gorgeous top with a pair of white Maison Martin Margiela cropped trousers along with some statement silver shoes.
It is exciting to see her wearing Basso & Brooke who are a fabulous design duo but who have yet to gain the status of designers such as Matthew Williamson or Jonathan Saunders.
Unsurprisingly the designers behind her fab top were pretty excited, Basso & Brooke told Vogue.com:
We were amazed when we saw the picture, She is such a strong, stylish lady - redefining a womans wardrobe - and for her to select us is an honour. The evening was a music and poetry event, and we think it worked perfectly for that.
It was a great look, a perfect blend of dressy casual and fashion forward.
Where is all of this money for desiger clothes coming from I wonder? He makes less than $400,000 a year and she’s in new designer duds nearly everyday. $500 dollar shoes $1,000 outfit =$1500 a day. That comes to much more than he makes so who is footing the bill? I’ve not seen her in the same outfit twice.
From the books that BHO wrote.
Seems a much better fit
How can you say Michele Obama and desire in the same paragraph?
... the ugly hatred always displayed on her face makes her one of the most unattractive people I've ever laid eyes on. The false smugness is also a huge irritation.
I'd also have a lot easier time accepting obammy being in office if she weren't part of the deal.
I dislike Michelle Obama, but I think this outfit is quite attractive in a modern way. Not what I would choose, as I’m a traditionalist. Still, not bad.
That's the word I've been searching for. She tries so hard to look sexy that she loses sight of the position she's been given.
She wears entirely too much makeup, jewelry fit for a teenage girl and clothes that are far too often inappropriate for the occassion, her body type and her position.
She beginning to come across as terribly insecure rather than attractive.
IMHO, of course ;-D
She has set the all time sack record.
Look at all the sacks she has worn in public.
Uh, thanks for sharing...

Goodness gracious. She looks like a weightlifter.
I think you are right. Marshalls lmao! I wouldn’t be seen dead in anything she wears.
She just happened to be the wrong color.
Ok, I don’t get this... The runway version appears to be a dress — is it really a two-piece top/skirt? Or did Michelle MAKE it into a top only?
An old classmate of mine would get a kick out of this dress. I wore something to school back in the late 80s whose design was like a patched quilt. I loved it... But, the witty geek sitting next to me in Advanced Biology said, “It looks like a Kindergarten class threw up on you!”...
What’s rather amusing to me, is that how Michelle is wearing the top (off-the shoulder) destroys the look of the top itself as the line of the blue “wave” portion is destroyed... It wasn’t meant to be an “off-the-shoulder” top regardless.
Dat's how dey doin' it.
As I am a guy, I must yield. ;>)
So that she can garden in them? ;>)
Anybody check out the link to another nightmare?

Its a nice dress and for once isn’t horribly busy like the rest of her clothes, but its the absolute worst dress for her body. Those ruffles are on the thickest part of body and the A-line just accentuates her hips. She looks like a cowbody whos walking like hes been riding all day. The top part might be ok if the bottom wasn’t so wrong for her, but as it is, it just makes her look like a skinny muscular man on top. I truly don’t get it. Doesn’t she look in the mirror or ask anyone??? Do any of her fashion worshippers even look at her?
Perhaps a good idea but I never like that song.
