Michelle Obama is a phenomena, she has managed to create her own look and pioneer young designers throwing them into design superstardom. And for her latest style outing the First Lady was seen wearing a British designer.
Michelle wore a gorgeous Spring/Summer 09 Basso & Brooke top to the White House Evening of Poetry and Music. She teamed her gorgeous top with a pair of white Maison Martin Margiela cropped trousers along with some statement silver shoes.
It is exciting to see her wearing Basso & Brooke who are a fabulous design duo but who have yet to gain the status of designers such as Matthew Williamson or Jonathan Saunders.
Unsurprisingly the designers behind her fab top were pretty excited, Basso & Brooke told Vogue.com:
We were amazed when we saw the picture, She is such a strong, stylish lady - redefining a womans wardrobe - and for her to select us is an honour. The evening was a music and poetry event, and we think it worked perfectly for that.
It was a great look, a perfect blend of dressy casual and fashion forward.
I recognize that blouse. My mom bought one with nearly the identical pattern from J.C. Pennys about 40 years ago. Really. Cut a little different, of course.
That's because Mrs. Bush didn't have anything to prove.
To herself, or anyone else.
And she never tried to be something she wasn't.
If I had the kind of money to spend that she's got, I'd sure as heck get a better deal for my money. LOL.
Again, if I knew that my taste was all in my mouth, I'd spend some $$ to get some help in that department.
on a positive note......thank goodness there is no belt! as for the off the shoulder look......guess she wants to let us know she is “sexy’? lol.....she did make the list this week.
LOL. I'm not trying to be the fashion police here, and I'm not trashing her for the peculiarities of her build, but if I were her, I'd surely spend some of the BO book royalties on charm school and fashion help.
I'm something of a klutz too, but were I in her shoes, I'd make an effort to dress better--especially if you consider that she's the First Lady.
Heck, if she were merely some woman in private life, who'd care if she wore atrocious clothing. But she's in public life...
Egads... we have Cyndi Lauper as first Jackie Yo.
LOL! I just popped in for a quick peek, and look what I found...quick, cut her legs off!
there's a window somewhere with no curtain...
Oh, argh, lol.
If either... ms. "o" needs to be Palin'ed... to the Nth degree.
What's "good" for the Republicans is damn good for the Socialists occupying 1600 Penn. Ave.
She doesn't know how to sit.
...and simply standing up also appears to be a problem....
LOL With me, I find her so repulsive that I can’t look at her objectively. It wouldn’t matter what she would ever do...... I will never be able to be the gentleman that I am to any and every other lady in real life.
I am old school, so still open doors for the ladies, but with her, I would probably cut in front and slam the door in her face.
However, I do understand what you mean. Our bodies don’t come out of a cookie cutter, so those that can....often bother to maximize what they have.
I am just glad that I’m a guy. I dress for comfort and rarely for anything else. LOL I am starting to get this thing for hats though. I’ve been looking at a few Fedoras, but it’s probably just a phase I’ll grow out of. ;>)
I can make a shirt last for 5 to 10 years, threadbare just makes them feel and look personal, and still think I look marvelous, just marvelous.
Before I retired I dressed to kill, and for success .... I sure wish I could get back just the money I had invested in ties, all of those damnable ties.... ;>)
It looks as if she may still be wearing those same green shoes. Just a guess can’t really see them.
Michelle’s style sucks.
What’s funny is she is spending all of this time and effort like a lot of the celebrities and it stinks just like most of their fashions do.
I will never understand how these people can spend all their money. effort and time on stuff that looks bad.
Maybe I’m just an old fossil, but I think that there are very few mature adult woman that can carry off the cropped pant look, particularly cropped pants that flare at the bottom. To my eye it is just not a flattering look.
