The MiG-29, one of the fighter jets used by Arab countries and Iran, has been developed to counter American-made jets such the F-16, used by the IAF.This is from wiki, so... take it for what its worth. But the MIG-29 was developed by the Ruskies to counter the F-15, not the F-16.
And an odd thing in this article and others on the subject is they all say Israel IS using F-16s in this dog fighting practice. Not that the F-16 couldn't beat the MIG-29 but Israel also has F-15's which 'technically' would be a better match for the MIG-29 as they are almost equal spec wise. (Like in Korea with the F-86(1) and MIG-15)
So.. Could the F-16 news be disinformation to lull Iran into thinking an easy victory then Israel actually attacks with their F-15's? Or.. Israel uses BOTH F-16s and F-15s and really though a curve ball at the Mullahs.
(1) The F-86 Sabre is the most beautiful plane ever made. It SCREAMS..... 'Jet Fighter'.
The 15s probably have better standoff engagement capability... But I think the 29s are more maneuverable than the 15s. The 16s should be better suited to mixing it up in a furball - which is likely to result when you can't use hit and run tactics. As in when you're tied to a slower moving strike package...
Go IAF, ignore obambi, he is a literal babe in the woods when it comes to, well, everything. He has no practical experience or knowledge.
