NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A Nashville passenger filed a million dollar lawsuit against Southwest Airlines. Norma Steiner said a flight attendant asked her to stop texting when she was on a flight from Nashville in June.
The flight back in July of 2008 had not taken off yet and Steiner said she turned the phone off and put it in her purse.
She said the flight attendant continued to harass and yell at her, not believing she had really turned off the phone.
The flight attendant then claimed laser beams in the plane detected she had not turned off her phone.
"I was scared there was a lot going through head," said Steiner.
Ultimately, the pilot turned around on the runway and police arrested Steiner for disorderly conduct.
"I was devastated, I was frightened," said Steiner.
The charge was later dropped; but Steiner is suing Southwest for intentional infliction of emotional distress and false imprisonment.
Steiner's lawyer hoped this lawsuit sends a message to Southwest.
"You've got to treat people right no matter how much power you have," attorney Tim Hatton.
Steiner said she was still going through therapy after getting arrested and spending a few hours in the Metro jail.
Steiner said she was not just looking for money. She and her attorney want a strong message sent to the airline as well.
"I don't feel they should be operating as an airline," said Steiner.
An airline spokesperson said they take all customer complaints seriously and will do their due diligence in finding out the facts in this case.
Another typical loony-tuner.
Not to mention a drama queen.
Laser beams??? Did Nancy Pelosi approve of this interrogation tactic? Could we ever know for sure?
Was superman on board and used his laser beam eyes?? He could have just smoked her phone by turning up the power of his eyes.
The FA?
Someone's not right here ~ the employee, the passenger, the lawyer?
Tammy Txtalot.
The flight attendant or the passenger?

...says the lawyer of the loony-tuner.
Laser beams in the cockpit? LOL
According to the local news last night she was approached numerous times to turn it off. (I think it was 7 or 8)
When the door is closed put your dang electronic devices away until the Captain has signaled they are ok to use in a non transmitting mode.
Very, very simple instructions.
I would have had a really hard time not laughing in her face if a flight attendant told me that
The FA sounds looney. I would have died laffing at her.
When two loony-tuners interact, the result is not just twice the loony-tunage - the result increases exponentially.
You said — Another typical loony-tuner.

Actually, it’s the flight attendant that sounds “loony-tunes”... LOL...

“The flight attendant then claimed laser beams in the plane detected she had not turned off her phone.”
In over 30 years of being a passenger, I’ve met several stews who were having the worst day of their lives and taking it out on me. A pain, but never fatal. Well, so far.
