one of my best friends in HS back in the 60’s was taken by his father into the city(NY) for servicing. He was very popular guy amongst the other guys after that....we all wanted the story retold over and over again.
I would never do it for any of my kids, but this sort of thing has been around a long time.
When I was in high school (1961-1965) , this was a typical present for the guys.

LOL...When I turned 15, we could afford tires for it, but I never really enjoyed riding it ‘til my 16th birthday when we were able to afford a seat ;-)

At least the kid is smart. He chose the one who wasn't using drugs and infected with a variety of STDs. Probably the best looking of the lot.
