(CNN) -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is engaging in a "despicable, dishonest and vicious political effort" to withhold what she knew about the CIA's harsh interrogation techniques, former Speaker Newt Gingrich said Friday.
Newt Gingrich says Nancy Pelosi is a 'trivial politician, viciously using partisanship for the narrowest of purposes.'
1 of 2 Gingrich said Pelosi "lied to the House" when she earlier claimed that the CIA had never briefed her about the Bush administration's use of interrogation methods like waterboarding, which is considered torture by the current administration.
"I think that the House has an absolute obligation to open an inquiry, and I hope there will be a resolution to investigate her. And I think this is a big deal. I don't think the speaker of the House can lie to the country on national security matters," the Republican leader said in an interview with ABC Radio.
Pelosi has been under fire from critics who say she was fully briefed on the techniques in 2002 and 2003. On Thursday, the California Democrat accused CIA officials of misleading her, reiterating a claim that she was briefed on such techniques only once -- in September 2002 -- and that she was told at the time that the techniques were not being used.

Sadly, I have to say that your post is pure logically inconsistent bullsh*t.
I would vote for Newt any day and twice on Sundays and you could not field a finer candidate to run against him anywhere.
go ahead and fall for him, I want a fresh new face.....I learned my lesson well....he is an old school has been......nothing more. he messed up in Washington and he got an ex...er an ax.....next!
—Newt had his shot and blew it...now he is just an armchair quarterback.....and many times I do not like his positions.—
We should be more open minded. Newt is, after all, helping Al Gore fight climate change! </heavy duty sarc>
Newt’s getting senile in his dottering years....heck, even the old guy, mccain, was rambling on and on about globalhooey as his presidential aspirations faltered on the campaign trail.
hardihar
Yes, of course. Either one knows he cheated on his wife, and as another pointed out, if he can cheat on his wife, he won’t think twice about cheating on us.
What was true about Bill Clinton is true about Newt Gingrich: If they can cheat on their wives, they will cheat on us. I never bought the Democrap line that personal life can be “compartmentalized.”
One doesn't need to trust Newt to know that Pelosi Is a "despicable, dishonest and vicious" politician. Why you feel the need to take away from that, I don't know.
Another one.
Wanna bet? Pelosi's toast. Obama has put a hit out on her, Chicago style. Read Panetta's memo, or the piece that the washington Post ran today by Dana Milbank. She's done. She's just too stupid to know it.
Isn't this "particular matter" what this article is about?
Serous question: why do you feel the need to change the subject?
Folks that keep urging us to let them be are foolish... Bush didn't fight back for 8 years, and many of you thought he was doing right... that sooner or later, Americans would see through the leftist lies... Never happened... How'd that work out for you?
We need to RAMP it up, not tone it down... Kudos to Newt for speaking out
If they can cheat on their wives, they will cheat on us.
Not buying it.
I hope that he runs for office.
Honestly, these folks are the morons that will make us a marginal party... They expect perfection and purity on all levels- not just politics, but personal lives as well... What a joke...
If she were correct about the CIA lying to her (which she is not), then a Special Prosecutor needs to be named to investigate the CIA lying to congress. I suspect she will fight any inquiry of her charges for obvious reasons.
Well, I'm not going to fall for him :^) - I'm going to support him and vote for him if he runs.
don't stand around waiting for that fresh new face while the socialist stemroller rolls over America, okay?
Thank you for your reply - bill
Gingrich is spot on.
However, even before being placed under oath and for national security reasons, she needs to immediately resign. There are no other reasonable options.
and yet you blast HIM not HER because of actions he took in his personal life--- and this is a political issue Pelosi and H must LOVE folks like youp>Its disgraceful acts like these, where folks demand absolute perfection, that are diminishing our ranks across the country, and marginalizing us across the boards- including the courts
Your tactics are shameless.
Your mistrust is what is wrong with the conservative movement. Any real or imagined blemish or lack of Christ like perfection is reason for throwing a leader to the wolves.
It is very frustrating, NYC.
Very frustrating.
The man carries most of the message, carries it well, and some of the rank and file want to shoot him.
