Just 38% of U.S. voters agree with former Vice President Dick Cheney that America is less safe now because of changes President Obama has made in national security.
Fifty-one percent (51%) disagree with Cheney, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.
The partisan divided is predictable: 72% of Republicans agree with Cheney, while 80% of Democrats disagree. Among voters not affiliated with either party, 35% think Cheney is right, but 50% say hes wrong.
Thirty-nine percent (39%) of all voters attach some importance to Cheneys comments since he left office, but only 17% say his opinions are Very Important. Most (57%) rate the ex-vice presidents views as not very important (26%) or not at all important (31%).
As for Cheneys former boss, 83% agree that former President George W. Bush has been right to stay out of the news. Just 10% disagree. Bush stated that Obama deserves his silence so that the new president could move ahead without criticism from his predecessor. Just 10% disagree with Bush.

I don’t believe it and don’t care. Otherwise it’s an interesting poll.
I suspect after the next 9/11 style attack, people will be thinking differently.
The others will change their minds. Weakness always invites predators.
Why am I never called for these polls?
I do not think the next 9/11 will be done by foreigners. I’m guessing it will be from Baraqqi’s.
Conservatives see Al Qeada types as the enemy, liberals see conservative Americans as the enemy.
Funny I did not see any polls regarding Al Gore, Bill Clinton or Jimmah Carter.
Are you on a "do not call" list?
Again.
Polls reflect MSM propaganda.
38% is not bad..I thought there were only about 20-25% of patriots left.
“Only” 38 percent?? That sounds pretty signifigant to me, particularly considering the ignorance of the public. I’m surprised 38% can identify Cheney.
I love the headline - when it’s in regards to anything Lib, 38% is supposed to be a great number....when it’s dealing with a conservative or Republican, it becomes “only” 38%...I hate the media....and most pollsters are getting on my very last nerve. Do I believe that just 38% agree with Cheney? Everyone I know does but none of us have ever, EVER been polled....
Considering the WH just reversed one decision, Cheney had to be right.
Educate at least another 14%
The election of Obama WAS the next Muslim terrorist attack.
Touche’
Again, more Lefty garbage, who did they poll, Perez Hilton’s makeup staff?
38% is not bad, especially since he just started making his case the other day..
Also keep in mind this polled Cheney’s strongest conclusion which people are hesitant to agree with.
I believe polls already show most people agree with Cheney on the policies.
Or as I was going to say... When the hammer falls.
Then it will be too late.
Yeah, about 40% thinking a new prez has damaged national security is a pretty strong number.
