Schumer on torture 2004: 'Do what you have to do' @ 10:50 am by Eric Zimmermann

New audio unearthed of Sen. Chuck Schumer's (D-N.Y.) comments at a 2004 Senate Judiciary hearing is likely to cause to heartburn for the New York Democrat.

The comments show Schumer was much more willing to tolerate torture than most Democrats are today.

And I'd like to interject a note of balance here. There are times when we all get in high dudgeon. We ought to be reasonable about this. I think there are probably very few people in this room or in America who would say that torture should never, ever be used, particularly if thousands of lives are at stake.

Take the hypothetical: If we knew that there was a nuclear bomb hidden in an American city and we believed that some kind of torture, fairly severe maybe, would give us a chance of finding that bomb before it went off, my guess is most Americans and most senators, maybe all, would say, Do what you have to do.

So it's easy to sit back in the armchair and say that torture can never be used. But when you're in the foxhole, it's a very different deal.

“Nancy is trying to deny this some more at her presser right now. She keeps having to look through her notes and staff prepared statement to keep her story straight.”

This is great. Even the press isn’t letting this die or ignoring it. They must smell blood in the water.

She keeps having to look through her notes and staff prepared statement to keep her story straight

That's because, if we looked into it, we would find that her IQ hovers around 100.

Laughed outloud when she said “let me read my statement again.”

She doesn’t KNOW what she thinks, someone else writes it for her and then she reads it..... Offspring of the TOTUS.

Hey, quick everybody: Who is the bold Republican member of Congress making a huge public stink about all this, calling Schumer and Pelosi out and aggressively demanding they resign, calling them out as the hypocrites they are, the un-American vermin they are?

I’ll be waiting right here for the responses.

Every Monday, one liberal contradiction/lie needs to be exposed. Their own words will hang them as their web of deceit unravels and people see the truth.

With the 'Rats it is rarely about doing the right thing.

It is always about spinning, lying, positioning themselves for political expediency.

I thought the very same thing when she started vamping through her notes. She knew, period, and is quite complicit in the approved use of torture. She can continue to blame the Bush administration and attempts to “mis-represent,” etc, but we all know, as she does, that it all amounts to horseshi_t. She lied and the worst suspected terrorists and terrorists got were water up their nose.

Bill Sammon now saying that she’s about to find out what happens when you accuse the CIA of lying. He thinks she’s in deep doo-doo. One can only hope. Besides Obama ,this is one person I would love to see go down.

I don’t know the date on this, but, I suspect that UpChuckie was anticipating a John Fraud presidency and wanted to show how tough the Fascicrats can be. After all, they were going to run a smart war. When the Fraud lost, they said the war was lost. The Fascicrats have no shame.

It's the CIA's fault, the Republican's fault, the Bush Administration's fault--repeating over and over how they had to change the Congress and the president.

The Speaker of the House's job is not to change the majority to her party but to persuade a majority of the diverse party members to pass appropriate and constitutional legislation. Spin, lie, repeat, spin, lie, repeat...what a great day to work at home!

Watch your choice of words....Not sure I’d like to actually witness either of them “going down” in the slang meaning of the word....YUCK!
BUT I’d certainly like to see either of them step down from their current jobs.
