Congress Comes In Dead Last In Voter Trust (Money and Power to People we don't trust?)

Congress just can’t get no respect.

While Republicans and Democrats disagree over most people and issues, they have one low opinion in common – the U.S. Congress.

Consider: When all voters are asked which branch of the federal government they trust the most, 34% say the Supreme Court, while 27% choose the president, or what the Founding Fathers called the Executive Branch.

Only 13% say Congress is the branch of government they trust most, and twice as many voters (27%) are undecided.

For a plurality of Democrats (47%), the president is trusted most. No surprise there with Barack Obama in the White House.

For pluralities of Republicans (41%) and voters not affiliated with either major party (40%), the Supreme Court tops the list.

But just 12% of Democrats and 10% of unaffiliateds say Congress is the branch of government they trust most. Republicans are slightly more charitable, which is surprising given Democratic control of both the Senate and the House: 15% of GOP voters trust Congress the most.

Doesn't it make you wonder why we keep handing over money and responsibility to people we don't trust? Would we put people we don't trust in charge of our children? Bank Account? Health Care? Would we go to a surgeon we didn't trust? There is something insane about how we just keep going along. This great disconnect is what we conservatives need to connect for people. A majority doesn't trust the government we need to walk them the rest of the way there. It really isn't that hard because people do want change, not just the superficial Obama change.

The Republicans could EASILY regain national and state power running on a Term Limits Amendment Platform. Two terms (12 years) for Senators and six terms (12 years) for the House, would be nice.

The Republicans are truly the Stupid Party for not running with this screamingly obvious golden winner of an issue.

The problem is that while most people don't trust congress, what they are referring to is the total body of congress -- which has over 500 people they don't trust, and three they may or may not trust.

As long as their own representatives keep slopping the trough for them, people will elect whoever they can to bring it home.

But in general, people think everyone else's representative is a scumbag.

Congress has been dead last for years. I don’t even think it would be popular with 100 conservatives Senators and 435 House members. It is a part of the job I believe.

Looks to me like;

Most of the people, don't trust most of the government, most of the time.

The problem is that the RNC and all members of congress lost their way. They thought, like Jack Kemp, that spending money did not matter, because tax rates are low. So they spent and had no other message.

The RATS have dozens of messages on global warming, health care, credit cards, CIA actions etc. etc. They win because they never stop telling the less informed that they want to fix things. People in an optimistic society vote for the people with ideas about making life better. Staying the same does not convey a message of better.

If you think term limits work, move to California, where the lobbyists just run any nameless brainless put-up doll to hold a spot, with the need for a job on the way out.

If term limits led to fiscal sanity, we'd be in clover.
