Congress just cant get no respect.
While Republicans and Democrats disagree over most people and issues, they have one low opinion in common the U.S. Congress.
Consider: When all voters are asked which branch of the federal government they trust the most, 34% say the Supreme Court, while 27% choose the president, or what the Founding Fathers called the Executive Branch.
Only 13% say Congress is the branch of government they trust most, and twice as many voters (27%) are undecided.
For a plurality of Democrats (47%), the president is trusted most. No surprise there with Barack Obama in the White House.
For pluralities of Republicans (41%) and voters not affiliated with either major party (40%), the Supreme Court tops the list.
But just 12% of Democrats and 10% of unaffiliateds say Congress is the branch of government they trust most. Republicans are slightly more charitable, which is surprising given Democratic control of both the Senate and the House: 15% of GOP voters trust Congress the most.

The Republicans could EASILY regain national and state power running on a Term Limits Amendment Platform. Two terms (12 years) for Senators and six terms (12 years) for the House, would be nice.
The Republicans are truly the Stupid Party for not running with this screamingly obvious golden winner of an issue.
As long as their own representatives keep slopping the trough for them, people will elect whoever they can to bring it home.
But in general, people think everyone else's representative is a scumbag.
Congress has been dead last for years. I don’t even think it would be popular with 100 conservatives Senators and 435 House members. It is a part of the job I believe.
Most of the people, don't trust most of the government, most of the time.
The RATS have dozens of messages on global warming, health care, credit cards, CIA actions etc. etc. They win because they never stop telling the less informed that they want to fix things. People in an optimistic society vote for the people with ideas about making life better. Staying the same does not convey a message of better.
If you think term limits work, move to California, where the lobbyists just run any nameless brainless put-up doll to hold a spot, with the need for a job on the way out.
If term limits led to fiscal sanity, we'd be in clover.
