In an action that spoke far louder than words, Pope Benedict yesterday walked out of an interfaith meeting in Jerusalem after the chief Islamic judge of the Palestinian Authority launched into an anti-Israeli diatribe.
The pontiff, on his first day in Jerusalem, did not realize at first that Sheikh Taysir al-Tamimi, speaking in Arabic, was condemning the "crimes of the Jewish state" and accusing Israel of having "slaughtered women, children and senior citizens."
But as soon as he was told the nature of the sheikh's tirade, he stood and left the meeting, which took place at Notre Dame church, before it had concluded.
It's not as if the organizers shouldn't have seen this coming: Back in 2000, Tamimi did the same thing during a visit by the late Pope John Paul II.
A spokesman for the Holy See later condemned the remarks, saying that

Sad, isn’t it?
Nothing in Catholicism denies the power of the Holy Spirit.
Next, their clerics are telling them how many "Hail Mary"s and "Our Father"s are necessary to gain forgiveness.
Not how it works at all.
The biggest frustration,for me, is that they insist that their Pope is the sole "Vicar of Christ", without apologies to the Throne of God in Heaven.
There is no conflict with the Throne of God and Heaven and the role of the Vicar of Christ.
“Next, their clerics are telling them how many “Hail Mary”s and “Our Father”s are necessary to gain forgiveness.”
“Not how it works at all.”
The willful ignorance is just staggering.
You have to laugh at it because it is so sad at the same time. These are the people that will give us a 2nd term of Obama if Romney or another one of the non-elect is nominated.
16Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspringnot only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.
It’s 6:00 and I still haven’t heard anything one way or the other. My bag’s packed and I’m ready whenever they are.
God’s in control...

Luke 16: 25"But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'
27"He answered, 'Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house, 28for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'
29"Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.'
30" 'No, father Abraham,' he said, 'but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.'
31"He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.' "
Yes, and His Grace is certainly sufficient. Thanks. M
Nice to see you can finally understand you are as black as us. It’s a much-needed step in the right direction.
I’ve been called worse on here and so have you and Dr. E. Stand up for your faith and get knocked down by their insults. Well, we don’t stay down, do we?
I’m obsessed with seeing that Catholics KNOW they can be saved HERE and NOW, not wondering if they’ll slide in somehow because they were baptized or confirmed or take the Eucharist. You don’t have to wait until eternity calls for you to know you are saved, Hacksaw. You can know before you die.
All of us are in one way or another.
God lifts us up.

Psalm 84:
1 How lovely is your dwelling place,
O LORD Almighty!
2 My soul yearns, even faints,
for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and my flesh cry out
for the living God.
3 Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young
a place near your altar,
O LORD Almighty, my King and my God.
4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house;
they are ever praising you.
Selah
5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
who have set their hearts on pilgrimage.
6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca,
they make it a place of springs;
the autumn rains also cover it with pools. [b]
7 They go from strength to strength,
till each appears before God in Zion.
8 Hear my prayer, O LORD God Almighty;
listen to me, O God of Jacob.
Selah
9 Look upon our shield, [c] O God;
look with favor on your anointed one.
10 Better is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield;
the LORD bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.
12 O LORD Almighty,
blessed is the man who trusts in you.
Oh, my sweet God! Mary, I just read this!!! I am praying that this is for real for you!!!! :*)
((((Hugs))))
Now I’m going to try to catch up with the rest of the messages here, hopefully for an update!
Thanks, Pillut. It didn’t work out but I’m okay with that. Bless you. M
Thank you, my friend. That’s really beautiful. He is my strength and my salvation.
***The teaching of Jesus includes the authority of the Church that He created to teach, instruct and admonish. If you reject that, you reject His teachings. Therefore, I would say that your heart ought to be troubled. The rejection of Jesus and His gifts does not bode well for those who would seek eternal salvation.
I’ve already stated that I’ll take my chances. The odds are 100% saved!!! ***
I have already quoted Jesus as saying that not all who Lord, Lord are saved; only those who follow His commandments. You post a misunderstanding of Paul which claims the opposite. Yet when this is brought to your attention, you ignore it and refuse to answer.
I believe that this attitude is really taking chances.
***The teachings of your fathers... just as Jesus talked about those other guys dedicated to keeping the Law.
John 8: 13The Pharisees challenged him, “Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid.”***
But you are doing the same thing. You deny and ignore Jesus, while appealing to a misunderstanding of a man - Paul. The Pharisees misunderstood Jehovah. You guys misunderstand Paul and by misunderstanding Paul and ignoring Jesus, then how valid can your testimony be?
More Paul and more Paul and more Paul do you quote. The more you quote him, the further you get away from Paul’s real message.
***Romans 1: 16I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”***
Faith in what? If you ignore Jesus and repudiate His Church and misunderstand Paul, what can your faith possibly be in? Not Jesus, that is apparant.
***28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.***
Not knowing what you said, you said it. Most of the so called Christians who follow their own gospel or their own version of the gospel invented from the whims and lusts of their own hearts, while repudiating the Church that Jesus Christ created and the Holy Spirit commissioned at Pentecost, do exactly what Paul is saying here.
That is the legacy of the Reformation. Each succeeding wave of the Christian meltdown merely gets their follower further from Christ. The Church is the only earthly rock; given its orders and its protection from Christ. Repudiate it at your own soul’s peril.
***They dont seem to understand that we are bound by Jesus Christ and that the Holy Spirit is the one who convicts us of sin.***
Mary, Mary, Mary.
Jesus is the Judge; the Holy Spirit is the Comforter. Perhaps more reading of Scripture and less listening to the snake handlers might help.
***AMEN, Pillut. I wonder how many Catholics tithe as the Bible tells us to do. Theyre great ones to talk about giving. How many of them go on short-term or long-term mission trips? I hope a lot go. Havent seen a lot in my area, though. They have to keep up their churchs facade.***
I wonder, too. But we are instructed to perform good works in the cover of night or behind closed doors so that we do not do it for others. The fruits are in our labours. All of the exploration and settling missions done by the Europeans in the Middle Ages and after were accompanied by Catholic clergy. I have been to many lectures and met many of those priests and brothers that continue to labour in Africa, South America, Papua New Guinea and Asia.
We understand correctly about the Great Commission and attempt to perform it as Jesus instructed us.
