What his stance on the following issues:1. Illegal Immigration
2. Abortion
3. Gay Marriage.
No disrespect intended, but these priorities are exactly why the 'rats will remain in power indefinitely, until the USA is utterly destroyed.
Of that list, #1 is the only issue that should even be on the federal radar. I'm more concerned about the government spending $.46 of every dollar it spends, buying its own debt, mortgaging our childrens' future, killing the Constitution, stealing from the producers to give to the unproductive, and capitulating to terrorists than I am about gay marriage and abortion.
So long as the Right insists on making 2/3 of its federal-level priorities about social and religious issues, we'll never win again.
For the record, I'm against both gay marriage and abortion, but these items need to be dealt with on the state level and we need to get the central government back to the small, limited role it was intended to have.
I'm more concerned about the governmentspendingborrowing $.46 of every dollar it spends,...
They can’t be dealt with on the state level unless the federal govt stays out of them...and they don’t seem inclined to. (see Roe V Wade).
Well said.
I understand where you are coming from, but I respectfully disagree. Since the constitution is based on the rights with which we have been endowed by our Creator (among these, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness), I believe that preserving life should be the top responsibility of the federal government. After all, without life, none of the other rights even matter.
One of the smartest things I’ve seen on FR in a while.
I find myself being persuaded by your excellent post.
“For the record, I’m against both gay marriage and abortion, but these items need to be dealt with on the state level and we need to get the central government back to the small, limited role it was intended to have.”
Hear, hear!
To kinda point this out, and we often miss the core subject...but of the following topics:
1. Illegal Immigration
2. Abortion
3. Gay Marriage
Illegal Immigration is the only one that ought to be a federal topic discussed in DC. The remaining two topics are state items and ought to be kept at the local level. We are allowing dozens of topics to be argued at the national level...which aren’t legitimate topics. The states need to regain their strength and take care of their own problems.
You are exactly on target. We must pick our battles carefully and pick issues that have broad support. Taking hard stands on polarizing issues will not win elections. Defense, borders, less government and fiscal responsibility are the keys to conservatives winning elections.
bttt
How does one "deal with" abortion on a state level when it was judicially federalized 36 years ago (and gay marriage will be too, soon enough)?
Well said. You are quite correct.
1. Illegal Immigration
2. Abortion
3. Gay Marriage.
First of all, homos are not GAY. They subverted the term to make it appear they are harmless.
Number 2 and 3 definately are State’s Rights issues, the Fed GOV needs to butt out.
Illegal immigration can be solved by the issuance of Temporary Work Permits (only issued outside the USA), with strong identity verification, hard enforcement with employers, no Social Security (instead use their FICA deductions to pay for medical insurance), no welfare, no “anchor babies” and a provision that anyone caught illegal can not apply for permanent status or citizenship or get a Temporary Work Permit for 10 years.
Great post, FRiend.
