Reminds me of the phrase moderate Taliban.

Mark Steyn was filling in for Rush on Thursday and coined a new phrase: "Moderate Evil-Doer" (remember shortly after 9/11 President Bush started to referring to these people simply as evil-doer's?). Well, Steyn suggested Colin Powell thinks of The Taliban and Al-Qaeda as "Moderate Evil-Doers." It was hysterical to listen to.

If she gets on board, how long before she accuses Clarence Thomas of putting pubes in her Colt 45?

“guess that implies that she is a tax cheat”

It wouldn't surprise me if he were a tax cheat like Geitner and others. She also may be a thief like Rezko, a hate America racist like Rev Wright and Lewis Farrakhan, a hate America terrorist like Ayers or a leftist nut case like Napolitano and others. My point is everyone Obama likes has something wrong with them.

I’m from GA I don’t know much about her other than she opposses the amendments apposing same sex marriage. I would definately prefer her over the MIchigan governor who I read was a possibility. In GA supreme court judges are elected by the public so I gather she has some moderate points of view. I would gather that she would probably sail through confirmation. I believe I read somewhere that Zell Miller appointed her (I don’t know if a judge stepped down or not then).

****Sears is promoting intact families despite her own divorce after 20 years of marriage****

That's nice but if she were I dunno say a conservative governor of an upper northwestern state or something and she did that she would be branded a hypocrite.

I think I approve of her.

Still like to hear from GA.

But let’s be careful. If 0 gets wind of FR approval, she may not get the job.

Sears, 53, describes herself as a judicial moderate. But court watchers say she has long been one of the state Supreme Court’s most liberal members

I’ve read a few of her decisions.

She’s a liberal, but not a flaming liberal. The way she writes her decisions strikes me as being more pragmatic then idological. I haven’t found any quotes of her’s on the US Constitution but when her court overturned a ballot law in Georgia, she specifically referenced the part of the Georgian constitution that law violated and made a point that it was the Courts responsibility to uphold the Constitution.

I’m sure more info on her will be coming out in the next few days but what I do know is that she’s not as bad as Souter.

another opinion

Sears is a left-leaning Justice by the standards of Georgia Courts, but on a national scale is likely to be considered a judicial moderate.

Sounds palatable. Now if 0 doesn’t threa, er, I mean ask her to “change” her ways to reflect his agenda.

Um... At how many events has she read this poem?

The theme of the poem is basically that all American blacks are good, no matter what, and all whites are bad, no matter what. And it ends with wanting her (the poet's) people to rise up.

It is not a measured and intelligent look at race in America. It's an emotional glorification of victimhood.

It's not what I look for in a Supreme Court Justice. How many events were graced with her reading this?

As good as you’ll get with a ‘progressive’ so will probably not make the finals.

I haven’t read the thread yet, but I’ll say that unless she’s a total basket case, this could be a good thing because she is old.

“Pray for continued health and well-being for the Justices Alito, Roberts, Thomas, and Scalia . If we lose ANY of them, it’s the end of the Constitution for 30 or 40 years! They may well have an opportunity to place replacements for Ginsburg and Stevens (no loss in those two, for sure).”

Actually, one really has to include Kennedy (Anthony that is) in that bunch because he’s usually the swing vote which goes conservative.
