CBS announcer: Any U.S. soldier would shoot Pelosi, strangle Reid @ 5:16 pm by Michael O'Brien
CBS Sports commentator David Feherty drew criticism Friday for suggesting any U.S. soldier would murder House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) if given the chance.
"From my own experience visiting the troops in the Middle East, I can tell you this, though: despite how the conflict has been portrayed by our glorious media, if you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Osama bin Laden, there's a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death," Feherty wrote in an a D Magazine piece welcoming former President George W. Bush back to Dallas.
Feherty, a former professional golfer who now helps call golf events for CBS, said that troops love former President Bush by contrast, and praised the former commander-in-chief for having prevented additional terrorist attacks during his time in office.
Liberal media watchdog Media Matters for America demanded an apology for the remarks Friday.
"Mr. Feherty's violent comments about Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Reid are disgusting," said Media Matters President Eric Burns. "Suggesting that our troops would attack the leaders of the very democracy they've sworn to sacrifice their lives for is an insult to their integrity, honor, and professionalism. CBS Sports should demand its golf analyst apologize to our soldiers."

It was a joke, to make a point.
Of course it was. It may have even contained elements of truth, as many jokes do, but it was in the disliking part, not the shooting part.

I heard this today on Rush (Mark mentioned it) and I was stunned to hear that it was a CBS reporter. No doubt about it, he’ll be out of a job by Sunday.

He wasn't telling a joke. That's why I put it in quotes. He was expressing how he really felt. I don't know this reporter's political leanings, nor do I care. He made a crass comment about our service men and women.
John Kerry also served. That doesn't make his statement any better.

Recently I joined the Knights of Columbus. A rep came to my house to sell me some insurance. In the course of his visit, current affairs/Barack Obama came up in the conversation. The rep tells me he has/knows many KoC insurance clients who are active duty military. He says many of them are not re-enlisting, because they regard BO as an illegitimate President by way of his falsified birth certificate. They consider the BO regime to be domestic enemies, therefore they would be in violation of their sworn oath to protect the country "from all enemies foreign and domestic".

Are you referring to Kerry or the person in this story. If you see no difference, then just never mind.

These servicemen have the discipline to withhold fire despite the urge to fire... otherwise how else would we have Saddam Hussein later at the end of a rope, rightfully tried, condemned and hung.

This is clearly satire. Barack accuses our soldiers of air raiding villages and killing civilians, which is not satire, and no one at CBS had a problem with it.
To: ZX12R
I see no difference. And I’ve been polite and respectful in our conversation, as have you, so never mind.

I think it was a joke...Yes it was. I think there are a few on the board that have little or no sense of humor. Feherty is also sayin' that the troops really respected W but have no respect for the Dem leaders in Congress. I think that point has been missed.

Damn shame. Feherty is a great golf announcer, and a conservative with a funny accent. See BS will surely can him.

What a stupid thing to say.
Lots of people would love to eliminate Nancy Pelosi's face from their consiousness. Doesn't mean they'd kill her.
