President Barack Obama has accepted the resignation of an official who authorized the presidential aircraft flyover in lower Manhattan last month, CBS 2 has learned.
Louis Caldera, the director of the White House Military Office, handed in his resignation Friday. The news comes as Defense Secretary Robert Gates says the Air Force flyover that sparked a panic was not adequately reviewed and approved by senior service and department officials.
The flyover was arranged as part of a photo opportunity for White House records. The official photo was released along with Caldera's resignation and the official report on the flyover.

The official crappy Obama Air Force One photo (just dreadful):
A photoshop that is vastly superior on every level!
Speaking of the office of the President overshadowing liberty, I heard on WABC radio this afternoon that the steps to the crown on Lady Liberty were going to re-open to the public on July 4. They were closed shortly after 9/11/01. This is considered to be a major "reversal of the policy of the Bush administration".
They then aired a soundbite of NY Rep Anthony Weiner saying something to the effect that who better to be the first person to climb those stairs and represent liberty than Present Uhbama. I wanted to puke.
Apparently never.
IMO, they simply don't care if it is a lie as long as the lying is being done by a fellow socialist democrat.
It is strange that there are shadows on the aircraft, yet none on Liberty Island?
Are they implying that they did all of this for 1 picture? Now that is one expensive picture.
They really do think that we (the country)are as dumb as it appears by the vote in November. Well maybe most of us are. LOL
Though not even a 400.
I would think there would be a shadow of the plane on the ground. There is a shadow of the statue and of that boat in the water.
That has to be one the WORSE Aeriel photo I have ever seen. It looks like the shot was from one of the F-16 chase planes by the reflection in the upper right-hand corner. The camera was improperly set.. the exposure sucks. At the very least.. its in focus.
There are more shots.. I would at least like the FULL disclosure.
The call signs “Air Force One” and “Air Force Two” only apply when the President or Vice President is embarked.
If neither the President or Vice President is on board then the call sign is “Special Mission XXXX” where XXXX is the tail number.
I’d like to see the schedule of the tourist boat in the back ground.
But there is a Defense Department policy.. NO PHOTOSHOPING imagery of USAF assets.
If he said that, he was wrong. When neither the President nor VP is aboard, they go by something like SAM28000 and SAM290000
10:00 to 10:30 am!
None of those details are left in the image from ABC website.
Should’nt the shadow lines near the plane engines paralell the lines in the background? can’t really tell, but it is an awfull shot through a curved window with window frame in bottom right corner.
Looks like the pilot used a $200 digital camera. This is no professional USAF photo. This whole thing stinks.
I have no doubts that it is an authentic picture. I question WHEN that picture was taken. Was it just a photo from the archive to throw out to an adoring media who would lap it up without question. That's why I'm focusing on the tail number. Is that the correct tail number for the plane they said was used?
