A march with a huge turnout is difficult for anyone to ignore. The media tend to focus on the “showy” aspects of protests — signs, people dressed in costume, etc. — but I think the real impact gets across when the sheer numbers of people can’t be ignored.

.
National wide the turn out for the Tea Parties was 500,000 - 1,000,000. Some individual tea parties had > 10,000 attending. Yet they were studiously ignored by the MSM.

Sorry, Jenny, but you’re wrong. The media ignores such a protest if it isn’t for a liberal cause.
A few protestors using over the top tactics, makes the pro-life movement appear to be made up and supported by only people on the fringe, when in fact the pro-life position is a mainstream conservative position.
There was enough time to gather several hundred people together, even if they had to protest off-campus. Why not do it that way? Furthermore, going through the proper channels, several hundred people probably could have protested ON campus.
Having said the above it is ridiculous that any group should have to go through such red tape to protest on campus. Students should do something about that.
What was the March for Life in DC? last January? Something like 200,000 people? Nary a word on the nightly news.
Big events may or may not get big media coverage, which may or may not reflect accurately the moral imperatives related to the event.
But big events are merely an assembly of warm bodies. Hearts and minds are impacted one at a time.
