SOUTH BEND, Ind., May 4 /Christian Newswire/ -- Randall Terry submits the following statement concerning his arrest at Notre Dame on Friday, May 1, 2009, and is available for interviews:

Six of us went to Notre Dame on Friday, May 1, to make a visual statement about child-killing and ND's invitation to President Obama to speak at the '09 graduation.

We pushed baby carriages with dolls covered with stage blood, and a bumper sticker stating:

Obama '09 One Dead baby at a Time Notre Dame

William Kee and I were arrested immediately. The others were given the chance to leave, and did so.

I was taken alone to a cell on campus where I prayed the sorrowful mysteries. With each mystery, my fear for Notre Dame grew; Jesus, betrayed by Judas and abandoned by His friends; "He came unto His own, and his own did not receive Him;" "I received these wounds in the House of my friends…" The irony was chilling.

We were transferred to jail – at Notre Dame's order – for our peaceful, visual defense of the babies; meanwhile Notre Dame plunges ahead with her plan to honor the premier child-slayer of the western hemisphere.

Obama will be honored and welcomed on campus, though the innocent die at his command; we were jailed, and banned forever from the campus, because we defended those dying at his order.

I had the unshakable sense that Mary herself wept at this evil, and the dread that Notre Dame is being weighed in the balance by God, and found wanting.

But my fear goes deeper. I fear for "pro-life Catholics" who condemn our actions; I fear for lukewarm clergy who look askance at our measures; I fear for "Catholic press" that lacks the courage or integrity to even cover our activities, is embarrassed by our tactics, ashamed at our boldness, and seduced to silence by the fear of men.

Yes: we will stand trial for "trespass;" but the arrogant and the fearful in the Church Militant that "trespass against us" by denigrating what it means to be militant are on trial as well.

A dreadful reckoning is coming. The blood of the innocent cries from the ground to God for justice. We will all be judged for our part in allowing this slaughter to continue. We will be held accountable for what we have done, and what we have failed to do; for every idle word, and every silent denial of Christ.

The Obama/Notre Dame harlotry is the "consummation" of Catholic America's godless marriage to moral relativism, lukewarmness, and unholy pacifism.

Mr. Terry is quite obviously a melodramatic fanatic who is doing nothing to advance the resolution of a complex issue.

Not with people like you flacking for the other side...

I've been watching him pursue this for a LONG time...which is more than I can say for ANY of his critics!

The problem with pro-life zealots is that they expect everyone to line up single file and do exactly what they want.

Growing a spine instead of constantly constantly whining about how bad "the damned" treat us would be nice, Bill.

No doubt the sight of bloody babies is a gruesome one, but just who is it who is killing these babies? It’s not Randall Terry. It’s Barack Hussein Obama.

Pro-Life: you can't be for us AND against us!

Psalm 94:21

They band themselves together against the life of the righteous And condemn the innocent to death.

"The problem with pro-life zealots ..."

Perhaps the problem is that too few of us are zealous.

Zeal against injustice is no vice.

Yes I thought that was an odd addition to Donohue’s statement. Nevertheless, Bishop D’Arcy is the leader in that diocese and he has distanced himself from Terry’s form of protest. Terry’s actions do not help the Bishop who is attempting to shepherd a flock of university students and whatever Holy Cross priests who will follow.

Frankly, I know a lot of pro-life ND alums who are against the Obama visit, yet they are ticked off at Randall Terry and his antics. He is damaging his cause among the ND community.

It seems the "Notre Dame community" has a serious problem if it has time in its moral schedule this week to be offended by Randall Terry.

No, it's not. Do you know of something personally, or could it be a proto-Joe-the-plumber smear by a lot of female journalists with a few abortions under their belt?

If his antics save one innocent life, the trespass of private property is justified.

Shame on Jenkins.

Quite shocking, in fact.

They beheaded John the Baptist for pointing out the sins of public officials.

What Terry did was peaceful protest, non-violent disagreement that has brought notice to his cause.

It is a horrible shame that Obama is going to Notre Dame. It was a shame that he made Georgetown cover up the symbol of Christ and it was a greater shame that they complied. It was the first time in the history of America that a President covered up a symbol of Christianity before speaking in front of it.

I cannot condemn Terry for these things but I can condemn Notre Dame.

Abortion is a violent, destructive act, wrong on so many levels but for those who believe in eternal life it is an abomination, an affront to God, and an arrogant violation of natural law handed down to Moses on Mt Sinai.

Obama seeks to make it worse.

What form is that, courageous, disturbing, embarrassing?

The link you posted to Msgr Reillys website shows a man who certainly does work pleasing unto the Lord but standing outside and praying for the babies being murdered inside does little to stop the murder. His own site gives the example of how praying outside clinics is like praying outside the room of a dying man in intensive care. That's true in the sense of the comfort it may give to the soul who is passing but the analogy ends there. People dying in ICU have already had everything done within our power to save their lives. If we are unwilling to go beyond prayer to stop abortion then the Lord is not going to do the rest for us. The Lord does for us what we cannot do. Terry and other pro-life leaders like the Center for BioEthical Reform http://www.abortionno.org/ or Walter Hoye http://www.lifenews.com/state3965.html are doing all they can to stop the death, not comfort the souls of the dying.
