Palin Joining GOP Rebranding Group
Roll Call ^ | May 4, 2009 | Jackie Kucinich

Posted on 05/04/2009 10:27:57 PM PDT by Choose Ye This Day

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), the 2008 vice presidential nominee, will join a new Republican policy group aimed at reshaping and promoting the party brand.

House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.)announced Palin’s decision to join the National Council for a New America on Monday night. The group launched late last week and held its first town hall-style forum on Saturday in Virginia.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the 2008 presidential nominee, indicated during a conference call last week that his former running mate had been invited to join the policy panel. The group, which is made up of prominent Republican leaders, plans to hold town hall meetings across the country over the next few months.

Palin’s absence from the group had prompted questions about whether she was snubbing it or being left out.

Bristol and Levi weren't married so the cheating comment is irrelevant.

She condemend herself with her own NATIONALLY TELEVISED remark. “Abstinence is not realistic.” Does that sound like penitence to you?

Nice way to twist the Bible teachings.

That’s exactly what Christ would do. Read Matthew 18.

If you subscribe to a Joel Osteen-Rick Warren version of the church, you should go back to the text itself. Seriously.

This nut farmer wants Palin held over the barrel for some supposed insufficient contrition of her daughter of age. “Do not judge by appearances, but make an accurate judgment.” The nut farmer is at best not close enough to do that. In the meantime we have the closest thing the world has to an Antichrist thus far, sitting in the White House.

Do you know what followed between her and her parents, or between her and God, after that? No, you don’t. She seems to have settled down again.

Just this one straw man should suffice to send you packing in disfellowship as a liar.

You think quoting the text is “twisting it?” You aren’t even supposed to have communion or fellowship with someone who calls themselves a believer and is engaged in serious moral sin. When the Palins found out their daughter was fornicating, they should have given the two teenagers a choice: get married, or get out of our lives. That is the Biblical, and the historical, reality. The fact that it seems so revolutionary to “conservatives” today is a sign that they don’t really go to churches that preach historic Christianity. They go to social clubs that Joel Osteen would be very proud to endorse.

Palin PING!

Anyone on or off the Palin ping, write me.

...

Those who support her, but are skeptical of this GOP initiative should think a moment about it.

If she wants to return to national politics, not to mention run for President, she has to involve herself with the RNC and guys like Cantor and Steele. She can't pull it off on her own.

With SarahPAC she has immense influence over future GOP fundraising. The RNC knows it.

Instead of fretting that she is being compromised by the GOPers, we should be happy that the RNC is finally recognizing the Conservative base's and Palin's power.

We should give her at least that much credit that her principles can withstand a working relationship with some RNC guys.

Come on. If she were so easily led to the "dark side", there would be no reason for her to run for anything.

Go Sarah!

Do you have any quote from Sarah—the woman I used to think was a kind of biblical Deborah—repudiating her daughter’s assinine abstinence remarks? Produce them.

She did no such thing.

And Palin isn’t her daughter. Her daughter isn’t an elected official nor is she running.

You have a really screwed up viewpoint, imo, and as a social conservative, you don’t speak for me.

Teens and unmarried people have been having sex since the beginning of time. It wasn’t public knowledge or splashed across the media as it is now.

People’s fascination with the sex lives of others worries me more than a teen having sex with a boyfriend.

Posting Bible verses to fit your agenda is no better than all the other people who do the same thing for all the wrong reasons.

“You can judge a man by the company he keeps.”
This is true of 0bama, and it is rue of Eric Cantor.

I became skeptical of him when he worked with House GOP leadership to push through the bailout crap sandwich, and now his alliance with McCain codifies it.

Sarah Palin is only tarnishing herself by associating herself with this.

This leaves Newt Gingrich as our only hope.

Wood, keep an eye on the straw men of farmer18th and call them unmercifully until he leaves or shows mercy. I need to go for now.

If Palin and Jindal are both in this group it can hardly be considered a purely RINO group
Yeah, and if George Bush and Tom DeLay are pushing a massive increase in government spending then it can't be Big Government...

Of course it’s to go and sin no more.

But you’re doing what the left and media do all the time. It’s blatant when they do it and it’s blatant when our side does it.

People’s sex lives bother me when I have to pay for it. In Bristol’s case, she gets to collect the $300,000 People Magazine baby-picture bonus, but what example is she setting for our daughters? Your historical data is flim-flam. In 1964, 25% of African American children were born out of wedlock. By the 1980s that was something like 75%. If you don’t think there is a cost associated with what goes on in the bedroom, you are a fool. Glossing Bristol’s behaviour over, just because she is “one of our own,” makes the message of self-government impossible to sell to people in the middle who want to hear the truth.

I can vaguely remember debating (rather flaming each other) some time ago on this subject.

I don't see what was asinine about her daughter's remarks. Her message was that the abstinence is right, but unfortunately nowadays more and more young people don't follow it, hence it is "unrealistic". From her entire comments it's apparent that she doesn't say abstinence is wrong. To the contrary. She repeatedly recommended other girls to learn from her mistake and wait 10 years.

the woman I used to think was a kind of biblical Deborah

Yeah sure you did.

Why should such an affair be aired before the unbelievers any further than it disgracefully has?

Yeah, I know, you will have a hundred reasons. I see simple personal disappointment that Sarah has not preached on everything she could potentially preach. When Sarah starts preaching AGAINST abstinence, let US know.
