I can vaguely remember debating (rather flaming each other) some time ago on this subject.
I don't see what was asinine about her daughter's remarks. Her message was that the abstinence is right, but unfortunately nowadays more and more young people don't follow it, hence it is "unrealistic". From her entire comments it's apparent that she doesn't say abstinence is wrong. To the contrary. She repeatedly recommended other girls to learn from her mistake and wait 10 years.
the woman I used to think was a kind of biblical Deborah
Yeah sure you did.

I did. Seriously. Her moral and biblical lack of depth is deeply disappointing.
..and it's not all her fault. We live in a world full of pastors who can't even tell their congregations that voting for a pro-abort is a grave sin. Why would we expect them to teach Biblical sexual morality?
The odd thing is that conservatives don't seem to be aware that teenagers playing crotch-hockey, without restraing, fuels the welfare state and the Democrat's very reason for existence.
Conservatives have to stop thinking party and start thinking truth.
