Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), the 2008 vice presidential nominee, will join a new Republican policy group aimed at reshaping and promoting the party brand.
House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.)announced Palins decision to join the National Council for a New America on Monday night. The group launched late last week and held its first town hall-style forum on Saturday in Virginia.
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the 2008 presidential nominee, indicated during a conference call last week that his former running mate had been invited to join the policy panel. The group, which is made up of prominent Republican leaders, plans to hold town hall meetings across the country over the next few months.
Palins absence from the group had prompted questions about whether she was snubbing it or being left out.
Agreed!
My very basic contention is: If she's not in the game; on the field with the other players (RINO's or fellow conservatives alike), then she's not in the game. Too many here don't seem to be able to grasp that simple concept, and accuse her of throwing in the with Romney/Bush crowd.
If she has national aspirations she has no choice but to attend. It's just a fact of politics.
Ok, go for it!
You’re supposed to ping someone when you talk about them, especially when you insult them.
Why do my comments reek of angry self-righteousness?
I have a feeling a certain someone would just hijack any new thread as well. I guess everyone needs a hobby.
It's too bad that people coming into this thread as I did, late in the game, will have to wade through all the posts that have no bearing on the topic of discussion before coming to ones that do.
Here is the REAL TEST for this group.
If palin was invited for just show and it starts to become a RINO exercise, then it will become very apparent.
(just like the MSM trying to spin the recent Kemp passing as the man who was the brains for Reagan)
Palin is finished if she pins her hopes on the Republican Party. She wont even win the primary as they are picked by liberal states, it’s time for a new party, otherwise Sarah has had her 15 minutes ...
Come to think of it, the only Repubs with a full set seem to be women.
Palin, Bachmann, Coulter, Miss California...
I’m happy to be the party of strong women.
I don't either.
Of course the inverse of your position would be: the GOP, if it wants to survive; pinning its hopes to her, or someone like her.
If Jeb & Mitt and Co. want to listen, then We need to TELL THEM!
True, It is how the game is played. Some just do not understand that. Gov. Palin can be in the orbit of this group without being corrupted by it. On a national level this is a proving ground for her. She can prove she has the metal on policy and once that is completed she will be taken a lot more seriously. This will also expanded her knowledge in areas where she is less comfortable expressing her ideas. To me there is more upside for her than downside. Gov. Palin know how the game played if she does not like the direction she has a built in excuse to bow out and that is governing AK.
now that kind of “Sarah Palin has yet to be contacted” response would really be a b*tch slap at these pathetic RINOs.
They know this group is considered a joke by rank and file Republicans, and in DC it causes outright laughter. Seriously McCain and Romney are being viewed as Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis without the talent part. The public is laughing AT this reimaging group not with them.
For the Pharisees. What happened to hate the sin but love the sinner? Believers are called to hold each other accountable and to forgive 70 x 7 the acts. Only when it is made clear that the sin is unrepented shall a believer turn from a fellow caught in the bondage of sin. Your dogma is too rigid and it neglects, I think, the imputation of righteousness given by Christ's sacrifice on the cross. Absent that sacrifice, would you dare to approach the throne of the MOST HIGH, on the merits of your own deeds? I sure wouldn't. So who are you to judge anybody?
Reminds me of a story my former pastor once gave in the service. Kid disobeys his dad and is punished. Later the dad ends the punishment and takes the kid out for ice cream. He says to his son: You disobeyed me and you were punished. That's JUSTICE. I ended the punishment early. That's MERCY. Now we are having this wonderful ice cream. That's GRACE.
I don't see any mercy or grace in your viewpoint and this is clearly a central element of a Christ based faith.
Oxymoron.
Can’t change the Republican party unless you are actively engaged within.......
Can’t just b*tch from afar....
Yes, a third party could be created in time, of that I have no doubt. The problem is there is no true Patriot who will come forward and save it, the republican party is done for, I wont lift a finger for it.
we as individuals and our circle of conservative friends have our part to do too.
WE HAVE to get involved with our local GOP clubs.
By controling the local GOP clubs, as rank and file we shift the balance of influence AWAY from the McCains and the Steeles and back to the Reagans and the Palins.
“If she joins any group with Jeb Bush in it, she is toast. Its bad enough her little slut of a daughter cant marry the guy she bedded. If mom beds down with the NeoCons, it might as well be an advertisement for a third party.”
Look what that “little slut” is doing now:

By the way, I find your post to be rude, insulting and exactly the kind of talk that proves yet again that some self-professed Christians don’t act very christianlike.
McCain needs to be voted into retirement.
