Palin Joining GOP Rebranding Group
Roll Call ^ | May 4, 2009 | Jackie Kucinich

Posted on 05/04/2009 10:27:57 PM PDT by Choose Ye This Day

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), the 2008 vice presidential nominee, will join a new Republican policy group aimed at reshaping and promoting the party brand.

House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.)announced Palin’s decision to join the National Council for a New America on Monday night. The group launched late last week and held its first town hall-style forum on Saturday in Virginia.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the 2008 presidential nominee, indicated during a conference call last week that his former running mate had been invited to join the policy panel. The group, which is made up of prominent Republican leaders, plans to hold town hall meetings across the country over the next few months.

Palin’s absence from the group had prompted questions about whether she was snubbing it or being left out.

The way I see it, this bunch of backstabbing RINOs went to that pizza parlor, spouted their "re-branding" nonsense to about a hundred people, and then panicked at the Conservative blogosphere's fierce reaction to them and their "Reagan's dead" screed.

So on Monday, either Kantor or Bush or perhaps Romney himself gets on the horn to Palin and practically begs her to join up to quell the clamor about why she is not involved. Palin, who is very canny and very calculating, apparently made the decision that it was better to join the group to get more National exposure and also to keep her enemies closer, rather than sending them packing and leaving them out there to attack her at will.

I disagree with her decision since I was savoring her silence to their initial invitation. However, she IS a sitting GOP governor and probably knows a lot more about what goes on behind the scenes than me or anyone else on this board. So, I suspect that she knows precisely want she is doing.

Anyway, Kantor's frantic press release yesterday announcing her sudden decision to join the group is very telling, since it is obvious that the National GOP's attempt to ignore her failed completely and even blew up in their faces.

Romney and Bush spoke to a mere hundred people at the pizza parlor, while some two thousand crowded into the Evansville pro-life venue to hear Palin speak, with another thousand or so (who couldn't get in) paying to watch her on a TV screen. So who's the real winner here? The RINOs were forced to ask HER to join--she did not ask them.

Now, watch the ankle-biters in Alaska file an ethics complaint against her for joining.

Sorry but do you think you are giving yourself a good and nice view of christianity?

You are falling in the trap yourself with your personal agressive attack.
BTW the “nice old guy in the street” and Ghandy are not the ultimate and decisive criteria on christianism and christianity...
Christianity must not undermine Christianism which should not forget CHRIST...

I disagree with your “old man in the street” and Ghandi(who BTW made some big mistakes leading to unrests and civil war in INDIA btween Indians and muslims in INDIA...PAKISTAN is the result of Ghandi’s utopy...

BTW i don’t know if farmer is a troll or a real christian but i think that his stance highlights the christian specificity difficulty(no mercy for sins but compassion and patience with sinners)...

Yes—they only want her there so people will show up to their gatherings.

And how long can they hold on to her crowd with their squishy "me too" message?

She cannot be used unless she allows herself to be.

She can use the opportunity to connect with voters.

If she stays true to her principles, she doesn't lose.

If she "gets on message" with these clowns then she never was what we thought she was in the first place.

She didn't cave in before when she was McLame's running mate.

Good Golly, you sound like a 5th grader. Today, the word is “ho”. And Biblically it would be fornicater, and if you must, you are no better. None of us are, except the 144,000 who take care of the temple after the resurrection. They never had sex. Are you among them?

Talking politics here, honey. The group being formed will produce nothing, as usual, but maybe it could be used as a learning experience for what not to do.

Well worth remembering.

And the more one finds out about that campaign, the more respect I have for Sarah Palin.

anyone joining a listening tour is in no position to lead. This is a joke and so is the Republican party. I suppose I should reserve judgement because to date the things that Sarah Palin has been DOING in Alaska seem to be heading in the right direction but quite frankly I’m not sure how she will act on a national stage. I’m tired of pandering politicians (could it be she is only acting conservative because Alaskans are much more conservative? How will she act when she is a minority voice?). Also, this decision seems to conflict with what Jeb was saying: The nostalgia of Reagan days was overplayed during the campaign (he obviously wasn’t referring to McCain)

She will only lose credibility joining that pack of losers.

She loses credibility so long as she remains in the increasingly socialist OP(formerly the GOP).

Are there any Conservative Republican leaders or is that an oxymoron these days?

It has been an oxymoron for some time.

If this “new” approach does not include supporting the FairTax, then it’s just the same old tired GOP. The FairTax gets rid of the federal income tax and the IRS. Instead of taxing production, it taxes consumption with a national retail sales tax. it replaces payroll withholding, Socialist Security taxes, Medicare/Medicaid taxes, capital gains taxes, taxes on dividends, corporate taxes, the AMT, and death taxes. It replaces 57,000 pages of non-productive IRS codes, instructions and forms with one simple sales tax, which will be collected by the States.

There ya go, injecting common sense into the debate.

This "Rebranding" NEEDS to hear from the conservative base. I can't think of a better representative.

And before Sarah can do battle with the Dems on a national scale, she's gonna have to do battle with the party - the RINOs specifically.

My initial reaction to Palin’s invitation to join this group was negative. These people really are her enemies. McBipartisan and the GOP treated her despicably in the wake of McCain’s defeat.

But, as someone said, keep your enemies close. In addition, Palin’s star power is gonna make the rest of the RINO crowd look shabby, morally and principle challenged people they are. And being on the inside gives her a bully pulpit to promote her own conservative politics.

In any case, Palin is a combative person. It is her nature to get right in her opponents face. Everything she’s doing in Alaska is like a stick in the eye to the RINOs and Demrats. She is a successful governor. None of the rest of them, including McBipartisan, can claim the clear and successful conservative she has created.

As I mentioned in another post on this thread, Sarah is a conservative voice. A voice that NEEDS to be heard in this so-called "re-branding". Additionally, Sarah will need to do battle with the RINOs before she gets to the ring to battle the Rats.

IOW:

She's in the playoffs now. A wild card spot perhaps, but she's in the game, and she'll have to beat all the others in her conference before she wins the right to go to the Super Bowl.

I agree with your football metaphor.

I hope Sarah begins speaking of true Reagan conservatism and denounce any RINO liberals as being dead wrong. The look on the faces of juan & myth will be priceless and will define them as being anti-conservative.
