My son who is 27, did not have health insurance last year, and when he went to file his 2008 Massachusetts state income tax found out that because of that fact he owes an additional 762 dollars.

This is the same plan Mitt Romney is bragging about today.

Is that true?
Guess it'll be that way in all our states soon...

He has no health insurance so he must pay additional taxes. Did I understand you correctly?

Your son had ample opportunity and ample warning about having health insurance in MA, if he could not afford it there is a program called Commonwealth Care among others which covers people with limited or no income and there is also Mass Health, so there is no excuse for your son not to have health care, it's his own fault he got fined the $762.

I do not agree with the everyone must have healthcare crap, but as a resident of MA it's what one had to do. Your son chose not to, therefore, he paid the price for not conforming.
