All of April and the start of May 2009 find us still being bombarded by the media hyping up the first 100 days of President Obama with no sign of it dying down. Following the introduction to the monthly thread I will post some photos to remind us of the first few days of the first May of the George W Bush Presidency - those were the days.
The quote I have chosen for this month are remarks made during Commander-In-Chief Trophy Event at the South Portico on May 4, 2001.
Tomorrow I will post some more photos from May 2001 I am sure we will see the contrast what we see and hear from the first few months of the Bush Presidency to the Obama Presidency will make us realise even more so how much more respect and love GWB had for the office and the country and more importantly the individual citizens rather than just special interest groups as the current President does not even bother to try to hide.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island
STARWISE: Thank you for posting the photo of our President entering the Bush/Clinton event — He looks GREAT (and still has that mischievous grin)!!

BUSH ADMINISTRATION: RIGHT AFTER ALL! AGAIN.
John, powerlineblog.com
. . . It’s one more in a long series of instances in which the Obama administration has backtracked on its campaign promises—fortunately!—by keeping Bush administration anti-terror policies in place. No doubt the administration was motivated in part by the fact that the Treasury Department has designated the Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation, the plaintiff in the anti-wiretapping case, “an organization that supports terrorism.” Isn’t it about time for Barack Obama to issue an apology to former President Bush?

I’m so happy that President Bush and Laura are getting many opportunities to relax and enjoy life again:
ALAN PEPPARD ON: GEORGE AND LAURA BUSH, ALLIE BETH ALLMAN, TROY AIKMAN . . .
By ALAN PEPPARD / The Dallas Morning News
It’s hard to beat the view from the Truman Balcony, but former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, came as close as you can get in Dallas with their Memorial Day celebrations.
The Bushes were dinner guests at the Crestpark penthouse of real estate doyenne Allie Beth Allman and her husband, Pierce. From their aerie, one has an unobstructed view of Highland Park and its leafy environs.
Among the guests were the hardest-working sportscaster on Fox, Troy Aikman, and his wife, Rhonda, and Bush pals Debbie and Jim Francis.
Former White House social secretary and special assistant to the president Lea Berman joined the gathering with her husband, Wayne Berman, former assistant secretary of commerce and now managing director of Ogilvy Government Relations.
Also present was President Bush’s new chief of staff, Michael Meece .
