NPR has learned that Supreme Court Justice David Souter is planning to retire at the end of the court's current term.

Correct me if I’m wrong. But Souter has proven to be an activist (commie) judge. So I don’t see this appointment as changing much if anything with regard to the Court’s conservative/left balance of power.
We will have a problem if one of our Supreme Court guys bows out for what ever reason. Hmmmm, I hope they all are prudent about exposing themselves to outright hits or “accidents”.

Souter was never a moderate. Howard Phillips exposed him at the time of the nomination, as I recall. He was “moderate” only in the sleepy eyes of John Sununu (Sr.)
