That is a very good point! It is my understanding that the swine intestine water filters last longer than those made from other materials. That also helps in cost as the filters can be cleaned and reused. :)

In my city they do not re use them. Pig farms and slaughter houses are plentiful. The public utilities re place them periodically.

I will ask my public utility water meter reader next month. I’m sure he knows about our city water treatment procedures. I can assure you,our water is crystal clear and tasty removed my Brita water purifiers without hesitation.
