The World Health Organisation tonight raised the pandemic alert level to five out of six after the continued spread of swine flu world wide.
Margaret Chan, the organisation's director-general, said tonight: "I have decided to raise the current level of influenza pandemic alert from phase 4 to phase 5.
"Influenza pandemics must be taken seriously precisely because of their capacity to spread rapidly to every country in the world."
Making a call to governments, she said: "This change to a higher phase of alert is a signal to governments, to ministries of health and other industries, to the pharmaceutical industry and business industry that certain actions must be undertaken now with increased urgency and at an accelerated pace."

Thanks for the idea. I just now used one of her bra’s for a mask pic and emailed it to her. She’ll laugh so hard she will likely break a rib.
Sorry, tall man, I’m already in the Free Zone.
We’re on the same page.
On the other hand, 120 million people dead is a huge number.
are they offended, or does it just confirm what they already knew?
LOL! How do you find this stuff? Amazing.
Excellent....
It's who dies in the flu that is at issue - normal flu kills the aged, very young, and the already ill, while this one kills healthier people. Now, that said, the death rate with proper medical care is very low - but do we have enough such care (staff, meds, beds) if millions get it? That's really what is at issue. Not saying it will et to that, but that would be why I'd be doing my best to prevent the spread, so we never have to find out.
My goodness, you found a gold mine. ;>)
Don’t be sorry. Tell someone who cares.
My opinion is as good as yours. Time will tell which has the last laugh.
If anyone cares to rwad the 396 pp or whatever document on what will happen next and it is here: http://www.hhs.gov/pandemicflu/plan/pdf/HHSPandemicInfluenzaPlan.pdf
Just received a link to Kane County information from our son’s school. His school is taking precautions, extra disinfecting of surfaces tonight. The link has information about the 2 school closings in the area.

Pretty funny pictures. We need a good laugh.
Wouldn't the majority of them be in places that have very little medical care? Anyone who gets swine flu in a First World country is going to get isolated, studied, and treated. Those in the underdeveloped nations would just die of famine from recession, anyway.
Also, something occurred to me today. I was thinking, while listening to news on this flu, "This is Barack Obama's Katrina."
Then it hit me: BS! This is not the reality of the force of a hurricane, but what if it were a made-up, overhyped 'crisis' that Zero was being set up to survive? The media is surely on board with their part of it, scaring the hell out of nervous nellies, and when only a few thousand people at most get it, and only a tiny handful of them die from it, we're going to see Barry thumping his chest about how his government saved us all from it.
All the better that 120 million people in the Third World croak from it, that is what makes it "real" for Obambi to look like a "hero".
